Surprised are you?

In-store pricing is cheaper, or at least it was this past Sept. Mine was $999 in-store (Sept. '08). On-line pricing includes shipping which could account for the additional cost?

In the midst of everything deflating, wood stoves seem to have increased in demand and the price is probably reflecting that.

I just bought the lowes englander 13 version for $715 and will be burning this year myself.

But i've sold firewood as an aside for a few years now and i can tell you that demand is higher than i have seen it to date.

most of the low prices were clearance prices as the bix boxes were looking to make room for lawn stuff in their seasonal departments. prices are a bit higher this year but its not so much from demand as simply the higher cost of steel (which we run through a couple million pounds of a year)

wow!! are you talking about the 30-nc??? i thought i got a good price at $800 from overstockstoves.com

300-500 was probably the 13. The 30 usually clearances in the $700's or so I think.

$800 is a pretty good price.

I got mine for $550 on craigslist. It was new, still wrapped in plastic and on the original pallet. The seller bought two thinking that he would need both to keep his house warm. Turned out one was plenty. His ad said he had paid regular retail. He took a bath on that one.

thanks slyferret. that makes me feel a lot better. but even if i couldve potentially got a better price by waiting for it to go on clearance, i'd be better off getting it as soon as possible to stop that damn boiler from kicking on. last year we spent about $3000 on oil. this year im hoping that numbers around $0 :lol:

good find on the $550 dollar stove. cant get much better than that. and its also good to know that this stove is capable of some serious heat, if he thought he needed two when one would suffice.
