1600 Sq Ft Colonial, Been burning about 3/4 bag/day (30 lbs) this past week. Keep it at 68-70 days, down to 64 nights.

Quadrafire Free Standing 1200 CB, with low, med, high settings.

Started burning pellets on Oct 10, and to Nov 27 have used 46 bags. Tri level with stove in the lower family room with thermostat, room about 20x22 and stove in that room lower level with stairwell runs up to living room, kitchen, and another stairwell runs up to upper 3 bedrooms. House is probably 1300 sq ft.

Set thermostate on cold days at 72-74 lower level, which keeps the next floor up about 69, and the third leve around 64 or so.

Like cool bedroom so this works out fine.

On the coldest days thus far, have run it on medium, have not used the high buttom, the feed rate from literature indicates
1.2 pounds an hour on low
2.4 pounds an hour on medium
4.4 pounds an hour on high.

Probably the first few weeks I used it from october 10 on was intermittant.

Retired so we are home most of the time, so dont turn it down during the day.

I figure it will heat my place pretty good on medium setting, and on warmer days, the low setting would maintain temperatures.

It would appear on medium it burns 1.5 bags a day.

thanks to all, I guess I am pretty lucky that i have a wood fireplace insert along with my pellet burner. I blocked off rooms and hall ways that I do not use and to date only have used 4 bags of pellets, I live near lansing mi

only have bruned 4 bags of pellets and have 196 still on the front porch
I am burning all my junk wood before I get into the better wood I have covered up and on pallets
Thanks again
Jim

it really depends on the outside temperature.
The last days when we had during the day around 30degress, I was burning aroung 3/4 of a bag per day on a 45perc power output.
Have to wait till it get's colder than it is probably a bag per day.
Nevertheless it's toasty inside around 72degrees, don't want to do that with the oil.

Third winter with the Quad Castille in a 850 sq ft small ranch. Usually burn 2.5 tons per season which can begin the end of Sept and go into the first week of May. This season, happily started late... mid October, and we have burned about 30 bags so far. On cold days, below 20 degrees, we easily go through a bag a day with the inside temp around 68. Good windows but need major insulation in the attic. Should have that job done in the next two weeks and hope to see the pellet usage drop significantly, especially at $300/ton for pellets.

I think you will see a big drop. I have a cape cod and added all the insulation my attaic could handle I did make sure that I put buffles in between the trusses. I also put a new door in and took a 9 ft door wall out and added a small window. I did many ohter small things and its rely paying off for me. I have a friend with a big house burning with natural gas in a large home and his heat bill was 750 dollars last year. he is the one that inspired me to go all out with saving on heat loss.
