I have my woodstock fireview the recommended 12" from a combustible wall (placed caddy corner) with rear and chimney heat shields installed however I find the wall to the immediate left and right side of the stove to be so hot I cannot even touch it without some discomfort. Is this amount of heat on a sheet rock over wood stud wall safe?
If not can someone recommend where I may find a nice looking piece of sheet metal to make a heat shield with?
Thank you,
Jim

Is there the approved rear heat shield on the stove and also flue pipe heat shields?

The allowed temperature is about 160-170 degrees, which is way hotter than you can touch. If you can hold your finger on it for two or three seconds, it is probably in the range of 140 degrees. Keep in mind that some cast iron radiators and steam/hot water heat can be at 180 degrees or even hotter.

Yes, both pieces were purchased from Woodstock.

I will try to measure the surface temp of the wall, thanks.

The surface temperature of the Woodstock has gotten up to 450 degrees.
