I'm looking for ideas for an automated way to move my pellets from the basement up one floor to the where the stove is located. Maybe pushing them
through 1.5-2" PVC with a slow turning auger?

Please share your ideas..

What's the matter getting old and feeble like me?

You could look into a pressurized air system like is used to deliver bulk pellets (well maybe not quite at the same rates ;-) ).

The more you move them the more they get broken up and fines. Pour them in a bucket and move them up as needed.

Yep. One bag of pellets is 2-20lb plastic pails each 3/4 full and pretty easy to carry and possibly the best container to fill the stove with.

I use a coal hod, 13 lbs at a time, 3 trips per bag, very good exercise.

No, no, no.

The folks that delivered my pellets told me to carry two bags on each shoulder it cuts the stair climbing way down ;-) .

Wow, that's as about as "useful" as the contraption in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (the movie with Dick Van Dyke) that cooks breakfast. Come on folks. Its not like people in the US couldn't use a bit more exercise.

feeling a need to defend my useless contraption, it took a lot of research, and trial and error, and spending a little cash to get it all working and i am very proud of it and it works perfectly

if you read my post it solved a few problems at once, not just moving the pellets upstairs
my girl is allergic to dust and not as strong as me, it is unrealistic to expect her to haul pellets upstairs and fill the hopper

as for your exercise comment i hit the gym 4 days a week for an hour during lunch, and i run with my dog every night, i don't lack for exercise and exerting myself throughout the week

to the original poster you should check out forum.iburncorn.comthis is an entire forum dedicated to storing and transporting corn and pellets

i created it to collect various ways of storing and moving pellets

I carried 4 tons of pellets from basement up one floor...one home depot bucket at a time. I kept telling myself it is keeping me young. Pellet stoves can be a lot of work. Much more work than flipping a thermostat switch to on. However, the work is worth it.

My comment was meant to be more tongue and a cheek rather than a criticism. It was obvious from the video that you're in reasonable shape.

That does it...... I am calling some whiner Government agency to file something or another against you for that true comment. I am 5'1" and 300 lbs. Hold on a minute I need to set this turkey leg down and type. Now where is that Diet Coke? Hey Honey, charge the chest zapper machine.

The round

Eric....you are so fresh

My back is like glass & i have to carry a bag up once a day . Builds character  Muss

Maybe next year I'll store them upstairs in the spare bedroom. I can create a shoot with a stop flapper right above the stove... Or I can keep asking the teenagers in the house to bring up a bag from the basement every day.

If you have teenagers in the house MAKE them do it. Back when I was a teenagers I had to..............

Three kids in this house and one more on the weekends. No teenagers but the work here and at the stores.

Your real name isn't Rube Goldberg is it ?

Great job there offingmoot ;>)

don't let the fools of the public internet get you down -- they are simply jealous of your ability

All you have to do is get 10 bags and store them somewhere upstairs, that's enough for 10+ days whats the problem??? Have your wife grab a bag and meet you at the top of the stairs and continue this way... seems simple enough .
