Does anyone know anything about this Newspaper Log Roller?

Much of the paper made today has so much recycle content and clay fillers that they shouldn't be burned. Put the paper in the blue box.
A while back we got some folks reporting their experience with them. Seems they are no substitute for wood and lots of ash was created.

When I was young, we had a traditional open fireplace, and my dad picked up something just like that to make newspaper "logs". He even tried soaking them in used motor oil :bug: . My recollection is that this experiment lasted but a very short while, and he returned to burning genuine wood. Rick

Neat novelty item, but don't waste your time with it. We got one, and a truck load of news papers from the printer. (they recycle it and it cost next to nothing) To make a long story short, we have 15 years worth of news paper to start fires in the stove, all stacked neatly in the basement. Paper is for starting fires, you will not be happy with the "paper logs" as fuel for your stove or fireplace.

Burning Hunk
When I was a kid my parents set me to work rolling up all of our newspapers to make logs. We then used these to start fires with. We no longer do this as they don't burn that well and leave tons of ash.
