St. Croix York, not enough heat??

I can only compare the way your York insert runs compared to my York insert and on mine the #5 setting, with the draft knob set about a 1/4" from the right, the flames are between halfway and all the way to the top of the back brick and about 1/2 to 2/3 of the firebrick wide. The fire just needs air and fuel. If you have enough air, then your not getting enough pellets. I had mentioned the auger light cycles every 7 or 8 seconds and while idling the auger light stays ON for about 1 second , but as you advance in heat level the auger light stays ON longer. On level 3, my auger light stays ON for 3 or 4 seconds compared to 1 second on level 1. Level 5 would have the auger light on even longer. If your absolutely sure your getting enough air than you have to make sure your getting enough pellets dropped in the pot to increase the heat output.
Just my 2cents. Let us know what you find.
P.S. My stove came from the factory with insulation stuck inside the heat exchanger tubes. Must have been sucked in the ciculation fan during a pre-run at the factory. I had to use my vacumn with a small rubber hose to suck the insulation out. This wouldn't affect how the fire burns, just the heat output thru the exchange tubes in my stove.
 
JB, You're not alone. We've had our York insert for a month and have shut it off at this point because of poor output. Your orig question (with room size and temp readings) are identical to my situation. The dealer will get a visit from me today and will have one week to fix or remove it. It was a lot of money wasted, in my opinion. Nothing is clogged, and I cleaned it once a week. I'm also calling Evertemp today as well and will post what they tell me.
 
Ask your dealer to take the stove back to his his shop and fix it... the outfit I bought my stove from test burns every stove that they sell for several hours... new or used. Most dealers do not. test burning gives the customer a stove that works from day one.

Personally, I really think you have ash build-up behind the back wall of your stove. Drove me nuts last year as i had the same problem with my flame as you are having. I had the stove for 3 months ... I bought it used but it was cleaned and test run by the dealer. He cleaned the stove and it's been fine since then.

Maybe you could trade-in your insert for a free standing stove... maybe not your first choice but it would get your house warm again.
 
Went to the dealer today who tried to talk their way out of even the POSSIBILITY that the stove may have something wrong with it, although, the owner wasn't there. The guy who was mentioned "charging for a service call". Not gonna happen.
When it was originally installed this October, it was almost a week before they could figure out why it wouldn't run, but 1 visit to the place we got it from (talked to the owner) resulted in immediate service and they got it running.
I look forward to talking with him tomorrow...
Eventemp, however wouldn't even talk to me, not even giving me specs on how many square feet it was supposed to heat (1800?) and kept telling me talk to the dealer, talk to the dealer, etc. Great cust. service from the manufacturer...
 
An update on my York Insert. Yesterday my dealer replaced my stove with a new one, same model, St. Croix York. They could not determine what the problem was, had spoken with the manufacturer, who also said they never heard of such a problem. When they took the stove back I gave them a CD with the pictures so they can show St. Croix. Although I have had some issues with the stove, the dealer has been excellent in trying to resolve the problems. I am convinced my issue was not related to ash build-up since the problem existed from the first day it was turned on when brand new. I still don't know what was wrong, but I did ask to know if they figure it out.

The new stove works much better, although when we first lit it up the flame was just as unbalanced. After a few hours it seems to be more normal. I have flame on both sides, although there still is a gap in the middle. The heat output is much better. I am still not completely convinced the problem is resolved, but so far I am more satisfied with this new stove. I will update after another week or so with more results.
