Burned by pellets, looking to get more?

Up here in Maine, it has been difficult to lay hands my hands on Pellets. I have recently been able to buy some at the Home Depot, but they're not local. Oregon and Quebec make up the lions share of the pellets available around me. I have been buying by the bag until I can find locally produced pellets by the pallet.

If you do go to the depot, the Premium Blazer Pellets from Oregon are exceptional. No clinkers, VERY little ash. Also look for Energex from Quebec, very high quality. Hope this helps.

Hi I live in Western MA and I know that Browns in East Longmeadow may have pellets for sale. Probally a little pricey at this time.

I use Energex from Canada - they are high heat, and VERY little ash. No longs, feed right, burn right. They advertise that, with the large size of their plant, they can mix the incoming material enough to reduce variablility, and thus produce uniform quality. In June (?) I had 5 tons of Energex delivered right to my cellar door, for $325 a ton delivered. I am happy and won't be looking for pellets until next summer.

I see no reason personally to prefer local pellets, just because they are local. Thank God we have a good transportation system on this continent, and I can get the best delivered to me. With many products (not all, but many), mass manufacturing can help people get high quality at reasonable cost.

Spruce Point are becoming more plentiful in Maine and are great quality. Mardens in Auburn. High BTU's and very uniform materials. Made in Canada

home depot,lowes places like that are getting them in.i dont know the prices.you may want to look into pelletsales.com there a sponsor here.

If i were you, i'd still be stuck on the "getting burned" part, and wouldn't be satisfied till i'd exacted my revenge on the partners from N E P LLC. But....., thats just me !! Luckily for them, i didn't order anything from them !! ;-P

hd in East Haven 1.4/ton was $417. today. Blazers, I only picked up a few bags but they had 2 or 3 skids. I would guess other HD in Ct have them too.

Beaman's Hardware in Granby has them as does the big "Do-It" hardware store next to Subway/McD's in the Geissler plaza. A bit farther afield maybe would be the place I got mine - CTPellet.com - in Torrington. They're running $335/ton so I wouldn't buy any myself with oil at $2.19 but if you do they're great folks - I got mine from them earlier this summer. Barefoot & Turman's are good but the Michigans they have are very ashy (although hot). As long as one of the others are available I'd skip the Michigans.

well if i were you i would try the attorney general route . i would not give up .also driving by his house wont get your money back . i live in the same general area there are many places in ct that have pellets in stock . the problem is most are over 300.00 a ton .then they want like 50.00 to deliver them .there is a place in manchester called cj s pelletes. also home depot in enfield .wish you good luck . and i hope you get your money back from these jerks.

Saw 5 pallets at Lowes in Natick, ma $5.97 bag.

there out there.there just too much money when oil is cheap.

My oil (up here in a remote corner of northern NY State) costs me $2.79/gallon, and my pellets, delivered cost $325/ton or $6.25/bag.

#2 fuel oil (I saw somewhere online) has 140,000 btu/gallon. My Energex pellets claim 9,000 btu/pound or 360,000 btu/bag. I assume my both furnace and my stove have roughly the same efficiency, so I discount that.

So this makes oil $19.93/million btu, and pellets $17.36/million btu. For me, therefore, oil is about 15% higher than pellets, which isn't much but still something. I am still burning the pellets, but am not so reluctant to use oil for a quick heat-up like when I get home from work (from 55 back up to 65).

If I can get through this winter using less than say 200 gallons of oil, I won't have to clean up the tons of ice and snow that usually block access to my oil fill pipe, and just get a top off next summer.

I've seen them in MA recently at Home Depot, Wal-Mart, Agway, and Aubuchon Hardware. They average about $6.00 a bag or $300 a ton NOT delivered.

The pellets are there. Obviously the pigs haven't been stocking up.
