Just got the p68 installed 1 week ago after waiting until placing the order in Aug. This thing is absolutely great! Lots of heat, simple operation, and minimal maintenance. At first I was afraid that it wouldn’t heat the whole house and therefore, wouldn’t provide a money saving solution to our oil furnace but the p68 can reach just about every inch of the 3 story house with 2000 sq ft. I have the stove in the finished basement and have tried to keep it running all of the time. It really is very practical.

Yeah, If the heat from that stove is reaching every inch of your 3 story house I wouldn`t want to be in the room where it`s placed.
It`s got to be hot and you have to be burning a ton (pun intended) of pellets .
Oh wait! Maybe you only burn 3/4 - 1 bag a day?

Nah, it's probably 75* in the basement, 73* on the 1st floor, and 71* on the 2nd... at least that's how it works at my house.

Oh yeah, one 40 lb bag a day with exterior temps in the teens.

I burned 4 tons and a few bags last year. Kept the main floor 68. On the single digit nights the lp heat came on in the morning for about 10 min.
Last week we started burning 2 bags a day.

My friend with a wood stove can't leave his house for over 3 hours without throwing a log on. Or risk cooling the house.

The pellet stove has improved the quality of our lives.

If the pellet factories go out of business I'll have to get one more dog.

One dog throws off as much heat as your pellet stove?

Two bags a day is definitely believeable. Refreshing to read an honest post in this regard.

Pellet stoves smell better than the dogs.

When a bag of pellets cost more than a bag of dog food I'll switch completely to dogs.

Im not sure how much oil I could use in a year because I ran my pellet stove starting in january (the first year we moved in) while we were home and left the oil hot air at 60 when we werent home to pick up the slack. Im wondering when it would be economicaly wise to switch back to full oil or run all pellets. I got my pellets in the off season for around 180 a ton for 3 tons for this year and I currently have a little less than 2 tons left because we have been running our stove for primary heat since october. I have 3-250/or 275 gallon tanks (how do i tell the difference?)in my basment which all are half full of oil. This oil is from last season. I replacing the legs on all 3 tanks (rusting bottoms)next week to get ready and fill them if prices drop below 2 bucks a gallon. Is this a wise choice or should I go buy more pellets and not price of around 220 a ton?

First off, I'd check those tanks really well. If the legs were in bad shape, I would be concerned with the condition of the tanks themselves. It's not uncomon for them to rot at the bottom and create a real mess.

Secondly, if your tanks are in good shape, I'd consider filling them at these prices... even if you don't use the oil this winter. There's a good chance you won't see these prices again.

Oh, you most likely have 275 gal. tanks.

Great thanks...The legs were just rusting where they are in contact with the floor. The rest of the leg seems ok. So that means I have around 400 gallons left. I guess we'll find out about the tanks when they are jacked up to install new legs. I was going to have them moved away from the wall farther as well to get better airflow behind them. Thanks for the help. I think oil is going here for 2.35 yet. I paid 2.20 last year so I would like to see it around 2.00 before I fill.
