Finally got the 4" stove adapter and installed it last night with high temp silicone. I understand there will be some smoke and odor with the initial start-up of the stove which is fine, but was wondering what your experiences were. Any tips? Thanks.

I was surprised how much smoke I got on intitial start up. I would say it smoked for 10 minutes. I put a big fan by the basement door and sucked it right out. It didnt leave any lingering odor and has not reoccured.

I had my stove installed in late November. The inital odor wasn't much more than when the old heating system came on for the first time in the season. As a mater of fact we had a radiator replaced in our forced hot water system this fall and that gave off much more odor for a longer time. The stove gets hotter, so whatever did come off came off quickly and was done with.

When i started my new Lopi Leyden last March, the odor lasted about 10-15 minutes & it really wasn't all that strong Good luck on warm wishes to you & your stove . Muss
