I left a post earlier today regarding my disappointment in the autoclean feature kicking in too often on my stove. I am trying to maintain 70 degrees in my house and I find that when the autoclean does its thing, It takes about 1/2 hr for the stove to kick back in full throttle. By that time, however, I have lost 3-4 degress off of my 70 degrees. Now I'm down to 66 or so and trying to play catch up to get back to 70 again. Anyway, I called Quad and they suggested putting the setting to "softwood" in pellet type even though I am using hardwood pellets. He said the autoclean does not come on as much when set to "softwood." That way, I would not be fighting to get back to 70 degrees all the time. Has anyone tried this?

Changing to softwood will increase the amount of time between auto-cleans but keep an eye on how dirty your burn-pot gets. I had problems with mine when I tried that while using dirty pellets (pellets with a lot of ash).

I'm surprised you get that big of a drop in 15-30 minutes that it takes to restart and getting blowing.
the first thing that came to mind is you need a manual clinker removal stove or best a furnace. It sounds like you trying to heat a hole house or something. Stoves are intended to heat a room and furnaces heat multi rooms. It has to dump that oftern to ensure that the clinker fall out and not stick and so the ash does not get that deep and be universal enough for differances in pellets.
