I already have the Tarm. I was just curious how the E-classic is integrated into an existing heating system. For example... what if I had bought an E-Classic instead of the Tarm? Would I have set it up the same? Does it have the same concepts as the Tarm... Like " Primary-Secondary" or "Series" when it comes to setting it up? Or is it a whole different ball game? Don't get me wrong.. I love the Tarm... just pondering the " What if " scenerio. Cost and so forth too. Buying the Tarm, adding a zone with 34 ft of high output baseboard, and having plumber and electrician do all of work came to 11,700 shells. What would have been the price of the E-Classic with plumber and electrician hooking it all up? This would include all costs... ditch, piping etc... and hooking into my current system. Also... does the E-classic use the same idea as using my current oil boiler as my back up?

priced an e-classic early fall.......$12,000 delivered with 50ft of pipe. :wow: Spending about the same in parts on a gassifier w storage. No brainer

My buddy has an outside wood boiler He loves it.He burns about one full cord per week

I got my E-Classic for 8500 and then had 100 feet of pipe - so probably 10 or 11K total and the storage is included - not extra. I don't have the mess and smoke in the house and I don't have to give up a ton of real estate for a big tank in the basement.
I have been running my stove since July and have maybe burned a cord? It is amazingly efficient.
So before you dismiss OWBs please know that the new generation is a huge advance over the past.

I have a CB 6048 That I've been running since the beginning of October and I may have a burned 1 cord or slightly over since starting it. A cord a week is ALOT! What kind of boiler does he have? Last year in my inefficient All Nighter Mid Moe I burned 8 1/2 cord from October to April. 24/7. Heat only. Now I do heat and hot water and the mess is outside. I'll be heating the pool with it to.

He has a Woodmaster 4400.About 100' from his house,It seems like a lot of wood to me as well,but that is what he told me

There's a guy here that sells a ton of Woodmaster units, (they are cheap and this is Michigan) I've spoken with a lot of his customers who have complained about excessive wood use. I don't have any idea what the efficiency of that brand is but anecdotal evidence would seem to say very poor.
I know alot of people with the old style OWB's heatmor,hawken,wood doctor,timberwolf, and mine is homemade. with that being said the only one that uses that mutch wood is my buddy who has a timberwolf the bigest one they make rated for 15000 sqare feet but he is heating a 1200 sq foot house and a 40x60 pole barn with little if any insulationand he only uses a rick every other dayheaterman said:NHFarmer said:He has a Woodmaster 4400.About 100' from his house,It seems like a lot of wood to me as well,but that is what he told me

I have been running my e-classic since Oct 1 and have used about a cord and a half. I usually use about 12 splits a day to go 24/7 with it. I have a 2500 sq ft house well insulated with 5 girls and two boys total......... lots of water use I have not burned a drop of oil this year and no propane for DHW! I am very happy with it. Very simple to set up and use. All said, my cost for everything was about 14K up and running. Built in 450 gal storage and running like a champ. Fill it once a day when I let the dog out so there is no "dreaded extra trip out into the cold" and I am good until the next day. No wood, mess, smoke indoors AND no fire hazard inside! We have already seen 3 wood stove/ chimney related fires in this area this year....... I am afraid that with people resurrecting all the old stoves and chimneys in switching back to wood that there will be much more of that. I hope I am wrong. The CB gassifier is very comparable to some of the indoor gassers from everything I have talked with people about and read on here. Good luck.
