Hello...

So I have 2 tons of Hamer pellets and 2 tons of Greenway pellets. So far the Hamer pellets are cleaner with less fines, but it seems to me the Greenway pellets burn hotter, but have more fines and are duster and produce a bit more ash.

Anyway, the last week or so I've been putting one bag of Hamer's in, then a bag of Greenway's, just back and forth to kind of get the best of each. Is this good or bad? I've heard some people say you should burn all one brand before switch...

I mix my Energex with Hamer's Hot ones without any problem. Never saw any reason to stop.

If your mixing them together then you will just end up with a happy medium. Maybe a little more heat then the Greenway pellets alone, but a little more ash then the Hamers alone. I don't think it would be a good idea though to alternate each brand bag-by-bag. Since they sound as though they burn different, your performance will go back and forth. You probably would need to adjust your settings slightly between each brand to get the optimal performance. If it were me, I would mix them together (maybe 50/50) so you can set your stove air/fuel ratio and just leave it in one place. No matter how you put them in, it won't hurt anything though.

i mix mine as well, i use 1 part ashy pellets to 2 parts good hotter pellets. i just put 50%less of the sup par pellets...

Got Energex and Pennington this summer, 2 tons each, check the signature. Did do a 1 week burn with each to compare, think I like the Energex a little better, but been mixing the rest of the time

j00FEK,

What brand are the good pellets and what brand are the bad (ashey) pellets ( although I suspect I could guess the bad brand . . . . )?

Have you tried a burn with a 50/50 mix??

Thanks.

Don't think it's going to hurt the stove any. I mix and match, switch
on and off - with no ill effects. Don't worry, be happy.
