I've received a free ton of premium PA Pellets, LLC and I can't find a thing about quality etc on any posts. HELP ;-)

All I know is I bought 5 tons of them this season, and all I have to compare them to is last years Armstrong softwoods. Im using way more pellets this year , I think, compared to last. It seems like there is more ash also.
So far Im not impressed, but then they werent free either. Good luck.

I bought 5 tons this season and have to agree there is more ash from these compared to pellets I have burned in the past. I run a Mt Vernon and a Harmon Accentra all winter as my primary heat source. I have found that these stoves will burn just about any brand of pellets without problems, but I am doing more cleaning than usual with the PA pellets. Also scrapping clinkers from the Harmon every day. At least they are cheap at $199/per ton.

yeah, we got 1 ton of PA Pellets & 3 tons of NEWP. The PA's do create a lot more ash than the NEWPs, but way less clinkers. I'm thinking that they throw a less heat than the NEWP's but not significantly less. I like them.
PA Pellets are hardwood, so as far as quality is concerned, it's pretty much a matter of how your stove likes them. Lucky you, to get a free ton. (I wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth! LOL)
How'd you come by that deal?

I burned about a ton & a half of PA pellets last year. They produced a lot of ash, burned dirty, I had to have the draft pulled way out, & did not produce particularly good heat. While they didn't produce clinkers, they did produce dense ash buildup quickly in the burn pot, cutting off the air, so the stove required frequent cleaning.

I am burning Freedom Fuel now with pretty good results. The other night I was filling the stove before bed & i ran short & instead of opening another bag I topped off my bucket with about 10# of PA pellets I had left over in a partial bag. (Note that they were dry, & looked perfectly normal.) The next morning, about 11 hours later, I notice my vent was smoking. I checked the stove & I had a very lazy flame & had to pulled the draft all the way out. I also had to clean the stove a day early, due to the dense buildup in the burn pot. I began to worry & play with the stove, until I remembered what I had done the night before. That was just about enough time for the PA pellets to be hitting the Auger. I let them burn through, cleaned the stove, & all is back to normal.

Without a doubt, PA Pellets are the worst ones I've ever burned. Low BTU output, high ash output.

I ended up mixing them in my Barefoot pellets so I could get decent heat out of them.

At least you didn't have to pay for them.

I find that PA pellets are pefect. I keep 5 bags of them in the trunk of
my wife's car and the help her get to work every day
