Has anyone changed out the basic chamber for pellets and converted over to the multi fuel (for corn and other seeds) chamber ?
My understanding is this would remove the VG motor system.

I would like to know if someone has been burning pellets with the multi fuel setup.
I have some of the nosies associated with the vg motor/gear assembly with my St. Croix Hasting stove. I been burning pellets for the past three years now and even tryed corn mixture 50/50 last year. To convert over to the multi fuel I would loose the auto ignition aswell as the vg assembly making the unit quiter.
I have wired a timer in series with the vg motor from Fermtek # 102719 allowing the motor to run every hour for 5 minutes only making it more pleasing to sit next to the stove.

My St. Croix Pepin can burn 40-50% corn... never tried it though.
I'd hate to lose the Versa-Grate system... I don't HAVE to open the door to clean it for two weeks or more. I have a little fan vibration on my stove but the versa-Grate is totally silent as far as I can tell.

The noise is from the gear box assembly (vg motor). I have squeezed Napa high temp greese directly into the gear box by seperating the motor from gear box.
This would quiet down the noise for a few days and slowly return. Timer has created a atmosphere so it's a pleasure to sit and watch tv next to the stove.
I all way had to clean the stove every three to four days when using New England pellets. Country Boy pellets I can go a week and sometimes longer with the use of the timer. Now cleaning I am just vacuuming cleaning out the areas around the grate weldment and ash pan. Every month I will clean out the hidden areas, pipe and combustion fan assembly.
I will say that I did have to use the leaf blower this year and it work just great.
