i am in the process of installing a eko-40 with 500 gallon propane tank storage what size expansion tank should i use anybody out there with same size system ? thanks

I suggest you take a carefull look at the expansion tank size. I followed wholesalers advice and had lots of problems. A friend, plumber, said to go to this web site and take a look. I did, installed much larger tank, no more troubles. Pressure stays where it should, regardless of temperature. Good Luck!

I have TarmSolo40 with 500 gallons pressurized. I went with:

It may be a bit over-kill and it may even be big enough if I want to increase my storage in the future, but it works great .

I also have 500 gal storage, I started with sx-60v it worked ok temp 175 psi around 22 + Lbs. After a few weeks of use call teck line to see if size was ok advised that I should have sx-90v, so I added sx-40v. Tank temp 185 deg. Psi around 20 Lbs.

I have an EKO 40 with 1000 gallons of storage and I run (2) XTV-110's. Each is 66 gallons. I also have a small XT30 hooked up to the air separator should I ever chose to bypass my tanks and run OWB style....

I love these discussions about expansion tanks, I am no expert but sometimes bigger isn't better. One thing for sure the bigger you go the lighter your wallet will be. 
This is my experience, I have the same basic system as you 40 gallons in the boiler 500 in the tank and have a SX-60V Extrol Expansion Tank (32 Gallon Volume). I have ran my system from 70º-200º with out any issues and pressures run in the 20's where they are suppose to.
I was going to get a larger propane tank next year but I am getting 18-24 hours out and charged tank including my 5 hour burn. And I am thrilled about it.
