ITS basically a rectangler box with a hole cut out on top, wire mesh is gutter covering i bought at home depot and cut to fit.
also used a joist hanger for the spout and put it a little higher than a drywall bucket then a door for clean out.not difficult at all.

The framing is not an issue, I just wasn't sure what you were using for the sieve.

Thanks!

Seems like a LOT of fines. A good quality pellet should have about 1/4 - 1/3 cup of fines per bag MAX. If you multiplied that by 50 bags, that would give you 12 - 17 cups.....looks like you have more than that, but maybe it's just the pic.

I have a vacuum pellet cleaner, and have cleaned more than a ton of pellets with it (Lignetics & NEWP), and the shop vac has nowhere near that amount of fines in it.

I bought 2 tons of Pennington pellets and 2 tons of tidy timbers. I began burning the Pennington’s first because of my concern with them since soo many people have had problems. Since burning the pellets there have been a lot of fines and longs. Some pellets are as long as 4”. So if you have a picky stove that needs smaller pellets I would advise against getting Pennington. Also just recently when I poured a bag of PENNINGTON’s into the hopper I noticed that there was a piece of wood inside that bag. It was not a long pellet but a 5” piece of wood. I feel that I cannot trust Pennington anymore. Their pellets are so inconsistant. I then called peggy at customer service who did nothing about the problem but advise me to call home depot where I purchased them and have them exchange them out. First thats not home depots problem its Pennington’s. I can see doing that if the bags were ripped but this is a 5” piece of WOOD inside of the bag. Secondly, home depot towmotor does not fit inside of my garage so I have to take out the ton of pellets by hand and load the exchanged pellets back into the garage by hand. Lastly I am not ven sure that they would exchange them or have any pellets left. Thats some good advice PENNINGTON!!! Dish your responsibility to someone else to deal with including your customers. It is not worth the hassel with this company. I will NEVER buy PENNINGTON PELLETS AGAIn!!!
Pennington customer service doesnt care about their customers or their chitty products. Mybe they will start to care when no one buys their crappy pellets. I believe that they dont care this year because of the pellet crunch and the fact that there was a shortage which makes it unfortunate that people have to buy whats out there. But it shows you what type of company Pennington really is. They add insult to injury when they know that their customers have little choice to find other available pellets especially near winter. All I know is that I will never buy from pennington again, period. I wont support those who dont care about their customers and stand by their products which is the least that they can do. It is just amazing how many issues people are having with this company and it is not just isolated incidents it is wide spread and it is long term, not just this year. DONT you remember last years fiasco!!!

UPDATE: pennington seed called me today, and let me know about my claim, they are giving any one with a problem with there product this year 15% of their
purchase price, so for me i'll be getting a cool $40.00 plus my cost on postage about $ 4.50 so i'm looking at$ 44.50 for the trouble of burning one ton of their product.
also if i didn't like the other two tons i had ,i could return them to lowes for a full refund i told her it's just not worth the hassle. :bug:

Geez... my local pellet, Uncle jed's, doesn't have a cup of fines per ton. I guess I'm lucky that they triple screen 'em when they bag 'em.

I have been sifting for about a half ton. AM actually using two buckets one a five gallon and inside I have a 3 gallon with holes drilled thoughout the bottom. THe 3 gallon fits perfectly on the lip of the 5 so there is no spillage when spinning the pale.
The fines are at about 1/4 of the first 5 gallon which would be 1/2 bucket for a ton.

I like your sifter and would love to see more pics from different angles.

It is not that anyone really wnat the the fines...its just that some people sift because of allergies, others are trying to keep the dust down, and some stoves just dont handle the fines all that well. A small amount of fines in a bag is probably not a big deal to most folks, but some of the pellet brands/batches have an exessive amount of fines in them. You pretty much need to get it out unless your into burning sawdust.

some believe that to much fines in the auger mechanism lead to problems ,jams ,premature auger failure, etc.
also excessuive dust in the house, some don't,I sift.

I have that many fines from my Pennington's. I dump em right into the stove, it loves em.

Gotcha tks

I have to agree, Penningtons Wood Pellets have way too much fines in each bag.
Burned 2tons of Stove Chow before and never had really that much of fines in each bag.
Got now a couple of Penningtons to check them out.
Would not buy them at current price of $299/ton. There are better pellets out there for the same price, or
even available at a lower rate.
Luckily my Wood Stove really does not care much about fines. Auger just kicks the Dust into the Burn Pot.
Switched my Stove to a settings which allows to burn lower quality pellets like Penningtons.
But I understand that some other wood stove will choke on it.
Nevertheless also they produce a lot of more Ash, which is more a maintenance issue.
Just my 2cents to an already known quality problems with pennington pellets.

How are the Stove Chows?....I just bought some and haven't used them yet...

Like already mentioned, I burned 2/tons of Stove Chows without real issues.
Very little fines, normal ash content. I did have to empty my burn pot on a daily basis.
Don't know the burn pot set up in your stove, but I have after 16 hrs of continuous operation always a
1/2" hard ash build up like a cake on the bottom of the burn pot.
Easy to take care of with the daily cleaning. Call me nut's, but I just happen to like to have
a clean stove.
If I see them again, I would buy them as I did not have any negative experience with the
Stove Chow Wood Pellets.
