Is this a new installation? Without knowing more, it sounds like you need to add more combustion air.

It's been in since last year. I bought it from a friend who claims he had no problems with it. It's vented direrctly into a chimney I used for my wood burner. When I first got it, I got 6 bags of pellets with it thast just left a trace of a fine white ash. However since last year, I've really been having problems with first, pellet build up. ( I replaced the door gasket) Now ash buildup. How would you add more combustion air??

More importantly, was the stove completely cleaned before you got it and have you checked your chimney for any unwanted things such as birds nests, etc ... ?

Secondly does the stove have a draft control on it? If so maybe it got moved and the air flow got restricted.

Then have you switched to a new pellet brand? Pellets are not all equal, some aren't even what they claim to be.
