wrong forum maybe, but ive got hit-n-miss internet access, and need some info.

we havent had power since Tuesday, been keeping warm and comfortable with generator and wood burning insert.

Ive given MUCH of my wood away to neighbors, and freinds around town with No power also, so Im looking at alternatives to keep my own house warm.

I have gas central heat ( and hot water, thankfully!)

Im wondering if I can wire my central heat furnace into the generator.

my only question is, IF the generator can swing powering the ignitor, or whatever it is that lights the gas burner, it has no pilot light, so its some sort of heating element , or spark thing.

Its cold, wet , and dar, so I wont go down and check it out until late morning tomorow.

But ive been researching on the internet ( when I can) and i cannot find any sort of rating for the ignitor..

I have a 2500 watt continues generator, that says 3250 surge.. its small I know, but its been doing everything we need up until now.

any advice, and or info is greatly appreciated!

I heard from a friend on a motorcycle forum, that they are called hot surface ignition.

I will wire it up and see.

you guys and gals stay warm and safe, thanks for all the help.
