What I'm going to laugh about is when this guy gets a contract and outsells the European pellet boilers/furnaces and some of you who were laughing buy his unit unknowingly. Every idea starts somewhere. Kinda like the biomass boiler you guys got a laugh about a while back.

"Way to go" Westcoast Exterminater, Dude necessity is the mother of invention! You have my vote!

Dog house your log on question? Never at work, Never at home, I log on at the wood stove cafe, Wifi on my lap top,

Kenny is in Chaos that's why he is laughing so don't mind Ken,

!

Don't be speaking for me. I'm laughing at all the girlie boys who were poking fun.
I find it interesting to see where they were all from also.
Open up the AshCan, here comes another one.

Well westcoast,

I for one feel like a heel! Sorry sir. I just thought it was one of those ebay scammers.

I hope you can take this to the bank and They sell like hotcakes.

Hopefully you have a or plan to patent. Some inventors never get to see there fame.

Good luck

jay

Thanks Pelletizer for manning up.
Seems like there should be others also, but maybe not.
I give it to the Exterminator, winning with a head kick, a killer right hook, followed by a rear naked choke.

Glad you came on here, Westcoast. All the best to you, but that thing looks scary as hell to me. Wish you the best, but I have to think that by the time you do get it improved upon and ready to market, if you go that route, it will no longer be that cheap to manufacture. I'm sure the first wood pellet stoves probably started out like yours. But then big government puts all the safety restrictions on your product before you can market it, and then you are like the other manufacturers selling it for about $1500 or so. You wind up trying to re-invent the wheel. If you stick to selling plans you'll probably make money. Good luck, and I hope you stay around the boards, we all would like to hear your ideas, plus you may learn a few ways to improve on your plans. Take care and happy burning.

WOW! You guys really won't let up!
Why can't you just leave the man alone?

All i have to say is I hope he has a declaimer stating he is not responsible for anything that happens and to use at your own risk! If not the first person who burns down their house will be coming after him for all or little that he has. :grrr:

I'm not impressed with the stove it's self, anybody can make a forced-air forge and put it in a box.........I wanna know how he get's ONE bag of pellets to last for TWO DAYS OF CONTINOUS BURN TIME !!!!

Smoke and mirrors?

errr I mean by burning .83 pounds of pellets per hour, that's how and yes there are stoves that can do that. However don't expect to heat much with 6833 BTUs/hr input which likely gets to be about 5200 net heating BTUs/hr .

I was gonna throw in some kind of smart-a** comment about "getting a life," but woodstove cafe, wifi and a lap top, real or not, sounds like fun to me.

To all the KNOW IT ALL @$$HOLES on this thread. Let me tell you a little something about MY PELLET STOVE PLANS. I live in a trailer. I don't have a ton of money unlike most of you have. I don't have a garage or a shed. All I had was an idea. The idea being I don't have to spend $1,000 for pellet stove. And I built it between working minutes at my place of enployment 0 from scrap. I worked out the bugs on it for 2 years, sitting outside because I don't have my own private space for that sort of thing. I spent less that $10 at first, and got it going. I have run this thing in my home for the 2nd year now. I don't have space to build a second one. I've tried to talk to companies about building a low cost professional model for you, Mr. average Joe consumer. Think about it, a pellet stove that cost $200-500 instead of $1,000+. They never wrote me back.

Now let me tell you a little something else....
I have a family to support. I'm the only one working. I live paycheck to paycheck. I collect WIC for the kid. I have creditors ringing my phone off the hook everyday.

My factory closed down for 2 weeks during Xmas, leaving me with just 4 days pay of for that WHOLE time. I came up the Ebay sale out of shear desperation! I would like to make things better but am limited to what can be done. Just like putting on the cheapest blower I could find.

Now compair a 747 to the first flight of the Wright brtothers. Well that thing is just stupid isen't it?
IN 100 YEARS, THE MOST IMPORTANT CAR IN HISTORY IS STILL THE MODEL T.

Now let me tell you. In 3 months of selling, I've made 100+ sales, I've collected $700 SO FAR... The plans are so cheap, that you can buy them just to satify your curiosity. Even if you think they are crap, Your only out $7. Tell me, what you can buy for $7? Not a lot.
I got one guy interested and is improving the plans for free untill things pick up. I just had another write about selling these stoves on a professional level.

I HAVE IDEAS FOR THINGS ALL THE TIME, BUT DON'T HAVE THE RESORCES TO SEE THEM TO REALITY. THIS MAY BE MY START TO BEING THE NEXT TOMAS EDISON.

So if you still want to make fun of me after reading this then....
F**K YOU
F**K THE HIGH HORSE YOU RODE IN ON....
AND YOUR LITTLE DOG TOO!

PS. For those who defended me without asking you to. Just come on over and ask me for a free copy!

I stand by my original comment on the looks of your stove. I was ready to give you the benefit of the doubt that indeen your stove is viable and an alternate to the big $$ stoves. But, sorry, you lost me with comments like "F**k You," "F**k the hig horse you rode in on," and "and your little dog too." Thats the Edison spirit! "Know-it-all A$$H*l*s, thanks.

But it was never a discussion on whether it was viable or an alternative to the big money stoves. It was a cowardly bashing of a man doing the best he can and more than most.

You know we may all one day have the "Westcoast Exterminator" pellet stove burning away in our living rooms one day. I cant help but notice that this guys sales increased on ebay after this thread was started and wonder how many people bought his plans just out of curiosity. Who knows, he may be right about this being the Wright Bros plane or the Model T of the pellet stove world. Everyone laughed at Bill Gates when he tried to sell his operating system to computer companies but I reasonably sure that his response was not " F**K YOU F**K THE HIGH HORSE YOU RODE IN ON.... AND YOUR LITTLE DOG TOO!" when the computer companies laughed at his ideas.

I will have to admit that this is probably the funniest thread I have read in a long time and if this guy can come out with a pellet stove in he future that runs well, is somewhat attractive and more importantly safe for under $500.00, I am sure he will have people lining up to buy it.

I won't applogize for it but, OK I'll admit, ON HINDSIGHT, that the F-bombs where a little much. BUT, your comments upset me a lot more than a 4 letter word could upset you. ie, let's start a thread, talking smack about your mothers sex life, and see how well you handle it...

Even worse, you did it behind my back.... I could do worse by taking people to court for liable. Worse yet, you could have some angry bikers knocking on your front door.

BTW or FYI, WcE is my biker name. I made Vice President of my club within 2 years after joining. I've been around the world...twice. Brought home an imgrant wife, from Laos. Had my first kid at age 40. I generaly have to work twice as hard because my wife is imigrant trying to get her first job in the US during the worst economy in my lifetime. Some people have done more in thier lives.... others could only wish to get this much done.
Please don't interpret this as me trying to start a pissing contest. Just stating a few facts about the guy you so eagerly starting knocking down.

NOW! that we've got that behind us, I hope, let's get started using this blog for the purpose intended, by learning and growing.
If interested, I also figured out how to run my car and bike on gas AND WATER.

I'm in. Now, how about some more pictures!

Maybe a couple.
There is one guy, on ebay, he sells plans for a corn cleaner. You need to remove the dust from corn to use it in a corn burner or it can jam up. The guy makes sales, but his selling picture gives it all away. I can just look at that one and only picture, and make an exact copy for myself.

One of my rules is pictures are for paying customers. Too many pictures can give it all away. You don't expect me to give away all my secrets do you?

WCE,

I haven't been in here much lately and just saw this thread. Congratulations, it looks like you are off to a good start.

I have built or rebuilt many things out of necessity, and I know what it's like living one day at a time. I've done plenty of dumpster diving, too.
I'm burning a 15-year-old pellet stove that was given to me as junk, because I can't afford - and don't need - a new one. It's amazing what 20 minutes with a screwdriver can do.

Don't let the hecklers get you down. If the economy gets much worse, there will be plenty of people out there who will wish they knew how to fix things or build them from scratch. Fabrication, dedication and invention out of desperation are the skills that will get us by.

My hat is off to you, sir.

I will jump in and say "My hat is off to you" also.

There was an older gentelman that lived in my neighborhood who could fix anything, anytime someone needed help with something, a home repair, a car repair, work on a lawnmower, you name it, they went to him for advice and or help. And he helped everyone. One time I asked him how he knew how to do all of this stuff and I will never forget his answer. He matter of factly said "When you are poor and can't pay someone to fix something, you figure out how to fix it yourself".

I'll give you a little info on my stove.
First. It's ugly. Mostly because it's all working parts with no outer casing. Take off all the coverings off a store bought and it'll look worse than mine. I do need to sand blast it and paint it, but I need it to pump heat for the winter.

It has NO COMPUTER OR ELECTRONICS of any kind. It only has 2 motors to plug in. One downside no temp control.

I can change the motor and or auger to increase or decrease heat output.

A bag of pellets last right around a day and a half, at it's current setting. The output is just right for 32deg weather, in my old drafty trailer, with crappy single pain crank windows.

It so light I can pick it with one hand, empty.

How much for the boiler model?
Is it direct vent?
Straight corn?
Met the wife in a biker bar.
Ride on Dude-

Nice job! How about integrating the parts of a Miller furnace, use the burner, the blower and chamber in to the pellet stove as one unit or add on? No pellet stove I know are a down draft design to conect in to the duct work for mobile homes. Oh and I live in one of those single pane windows Mobile homes as well and spent a total of $2600 installing an Enviro Mini, that I am not using cuse the price of oil came down to a point I am willing to pay at this time.
