Attaching vent to exhaust blower question..

Ok, so I've got the Summers Heat stove in position, and the vent pipe sealed and connected ready to go..

I'm using the Simpson 3" kit, which with the setup I'm doing, requires me to use the adapter connected to the stove, then the T.

Now my question is this.. the adapter slides onto the exhaust blower of the stove easily, and is pretty loose. Should there be screws to hold it on, or just a layer of high heat RTV? The manual says something like " Connect the vent to the exhaust blower using 3 screws.. but doesn't go into details at all, and there doesn't seem to be a lot of room for screws. The instructions for the Simpson kit, do not say anything about it.

I hate to drill through the pipe if I really am not supposed to..

No, do not use screws. Just put lots of RTV sealant around it. When I did it I put 2 coats on just to make sure. Mine seemed loose as well. Hope this helps.
 
I didn't use a clamp and was told not to because you can't tighten it enough to do any good. Just lots of high temp RTV.
 
I used a heavy duty hose clamp to try to compress the appliance adapter. Took a couple of trys before it worked. Just becare full not to over compress it. I did not leave the clamp on. Just used to compress fitting a little!

Then do the sealant. I put some on the stove vent slide the adapter on. Let it dry and installed the second coat over that.

Of course, both the stove manufactures and vent suppliers specify to use screws. Some say two, some say three screws. I wouldn' t be surprised if it's a code requirement because the equipment suppliers spell this out. What if there is a fire & the insurance company inspects & sees that no screws were installed???

I just checked my enviro manual. It states.

"Connect the exhaust vent pipe to the exhaust pipe on the stove. Seal connection with high temperature silicone"

I say's nothing about screws. Where did you read that?
