Called my stove dealer & told him my brick back wall had cracked...... no problemo , he was gonna call & order one . After 2+ weeks of waiting, i called him yesterday. He called them & they told him they were back ordered & would be sent to him on the 15th . So, he calls me back & tells me about the end of the month . He said at least 10 days after the 15th . Meanwhile because of my fireback being split in 2 , I have to strip the stove everyday cause of the S#$%^ dam Athen pellets causing so much ash. Have to keep burning them on high to get good heat so most times, i'm out of pellets by the time i get up & have to put the oil on for a bit. So on it goes. Muss PS. I'm glad i have you folks to vent to !

Sorry to hear about your problem. I have an idea that I do not know if it would work or help, but would you be able temporarily patch it together with stove cement? I don't know how it would hold up so this is nothing more than a "way out there" suggestion until you get your new panel.

I hope you don't have to wait too long.
 
Muss another option if the panel is cast iron would be to take it to your local welding shop and have it brazed. This should hold up well and also serve as a backup in the event this happens again. Cast iron is relatively easy to braze and fairly strong. Good Luck.
 
The fake brick in my st croix broke in about 5 different places.
I spoke with the MFG and they said it was strictly for looks
so I removed it. Used the stove like that for awhile before
it's replacement arrived - which is steel btw.

So, my advice is to remove it rather than mess with it.
If the new piece is made of the same material, it too
will most likely break.
 
I have a St Croix with the fake bricks and was wondering how to remove them for our yearly cleaning. First time user and won't be going back to oil.

I have a ST. Croix insert and the fake bricks broke the first month I owned the stove. The replacements are metal and look just as good and won't break. They unscrew on the side. Easy to change ,for $100, before your fake ones break.

Where do you get the metal replacement? I've got a St. Croix Hastings and mine cracked right down the middle the first year I had it.

I bought the metal ones rom the dealer I bought my York insert from. If you go to the St. Croix website -
http://www.stcroixheat.com/dealer.php Just put in your Zip code and it'll give you the nearest dealer that can get you the metal bricks.
