C'mon hunting season!
I really enjoy wood burning but by the second week of February it has pretty much worn off! I split a cord of oak and ash and need to get busy with the rest of it but c'mon, warm up already!!! ;-P

Sorry... not for me.

Still 2 more months of snowplowing, pulling cars out of ditch, winter tourists, $$$. Gotta make hay will the sun shines.

Plus the day light is getting longer. After work one can enjoy the "winter" some. Get some of the best alpine skiing in March!

I really enjoy burning wood. In May, campfire season starts, smores galore!

I'm sure you'll get a second motion... I think I one of only a few that enjoy the full length of winter.

Yeah, I'm ready for spring too. I got a little spoiled when it warmed into the 40's, now we're back to winter.

I second the motion. A bonfire with some barley sandwiches sounds good , eh.

Last year we heated all spring, clear through Juneuary. Hope it gets warmer sooner this year.

Spring came here (so. calif.) in January. The weather has just recently remembered it's supposed to be doing a pale imitation of a real winter. But from the warmish weather last month, plus recent rains, we've got green grasses and many trees and flowers in bloom. Even so, early spring was nice. We didn't have a fire in the FP for almost two weeks. It was just too warm.

Peace,
- Sequoia

I'm with rowski. I hope to be skiing into May. I love that Jay Peak you call home. Milder temps, great workin' outside weather. Beer does not get piss warm to quick. Nope, not ready for spring here.

I need to see some green stuff. Tired of white!

I'm ready for winter to end. I want to de-winterize the camper, head off to my favorite campground / fishing spot and do some wood burning outdoors.

I can hold out for a while. The sub-zero temps should pretty much be over for us and all of our snow and ice has melted.
43° today, 50° tomorrow, I think. Wife and I were out in the yard today. She had a big brush fire going and I dug out a swale.
Heck, the crocuses should be coming up in about three weeks. Hang in there man.
Every time it snows here, I tell the wife that I don't understand how people can deal with seeing white for four months straight.
I would go absolutely nuts. How do some of you folks deal with it? Do you just get used to it?

Ditto, I'd love to see some green stuff. I'm tired of seeing RED in my banking accounts. :shut:

What, did that new stove bust the bank?

The stove is a bright positive. The Castine sold for what I paid for it and Tom gave me a very fair deal. It's my now-more-distant retirement funds that are feeling the pain.

Yeah, I feel your pain, at least you know the stove will pay you back.

Amen.

I got daffodillies being brave & bold. I told them to chill ;-)

Gonna make it through the year with wood, happy about that, and I'm into the end of next year processed and ready.

This, I can do :)

Good thing 'cause this shorted out hamstring is causing me much constrenation & frustration :-S

I dunno, winter isn't that bad. The streets are smoother because the potholes are filled with ice & snow. There seems to be less traffic in winter too. Another advantage is the vehicles stay cleaner when it is cold. Once spring comes, the streets will be a dirty and bumpy mess, not to mention the fact every second one will be barracaded off for construction. We only have 2 seasons out here, winter & construction.
That being said, I do enjoy summer. Too bad we have to go through spring to get to it.....

Walking around in Seattle on Thursday I saw some daffodils starting to open. It may hit 50 a few times later in the week. I suspect our crocuses will start blooming then. Everything will start waking up soon. Looks like I'd better get going on the garden beds and seed catalogs.

Sorry about the hamstring Dixie. Is this on the horse or yourself?

The only problem with this warm weather and thaw stuff is that I keep getting the truck stuck in the mud from the ice thawing where I go out to get another load of wood. In fact, I have about 3 cords to finish cutting and hauling but I can't get to it now because of this thaw. I could use a hard freeze for a few more days. But the flip side of that, I am almost out of this years wood.

My self.

Lost it chasing the escaping puppy. Zigged and zagged instead of zagged & zigged :blank:

Thats some cute stuff there.
Could have at least took a clearer picture.
Ya sure you have the lens in the right way on that camera? LMAO
Its not a "boost" lens is it? ;)

I'm really excited about next year's woodpile. That's OK, right?

I am ready for spring. In the fall I coundnt wait for winter to burn 24/7, then I couldnt wait till Jan/feb to burn fully seasoned stuff, but I'm over it now. I need to replace the floor and stringers in my boat, and can't do so until its warmer and the snow is gone. the later I get started on that, the later I hit the water...

Not that we have much of a Winter down here compared to what most of you have, but that's what I like about the different seasons, just when you're at your whits end with one, along comes another like a breath of fresh air. I've got Spring fever, trying to expand the garden with a little project this weekend. Got some more raised beds to build this week.

Gratuitous shot of the Holz Hausen in the background to qualify for posting this in the hearth room. ;-P
