My friend and neighbor stops by this morning and says he's got some wood for me. We go outside and his tractor bucket is filled with split wood. We stack that in a rack and I think, wow, that's great. Then he says c'mere and he's got his box on the three point filled with logs. I can now start cutting and splitting for next season...woohoo.
He's probably got about 4 more cords for me. Good friends like him are not easy to find.

Count yourself as fortunate that you have such good friends.

Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but it doesn't look like a cord (4'x4'x8'). Still, you cannot beat free and some of it split to boot!

I bought about 4 cord off my neighbor a couple years ago when my wood guy let me down. My neighbor had cut a bunch of market wood and set aside the stuff the mills won't take. From a distance it looked like Ash but when I got it in my yard it was almost all Elm. Was sure glad I had the splitter for that stuff.

No, that's not a cord, but it was a nice surprise. The second log from the bottom is hackberry and it splits just like elm, I'm pretty sure they are related. I couldn't split it without the splitter. I like the way it burns.

Wow!! What a great neighborhood you live in.

We don't have a whole lot of neighbors up here, when they come over they either want to sell us something or they need to
borrow something....................... Guaranteed!

When the dogs start barking sometimes I just hide in the barn, till the coast is clear!! :eek:hh:

looks like some of it is good and dry, too! Nice score. Buy your neighbor some beer right now.

Congrats on your nice free wood.. I'd say you owe your friend at least a 30 pack for that wood!

I always keep a 40 of his brand in the fridge for him, but he doesn't drink that often. He's the type of guy that won't let you return a favor, so I have to be sneaky about it. Sometimes we'll make dinner for him and his wife or pay the check when we go out to eat.
Sometimes he keeps track though and they'll buy pizza or something and bring it over. Either way, he knows that I appreciate it and he knows I'll drop everything if he needs help with something. He said the split stuff fell off his wood pile and he didn't feel like stackin' it back on there. Kind of odd how it filled the bucket up to the top and was even all the way accross. I think he noticed that my supply was getting a little low.

Some of what he has set aside for me.

nice haul! sounds like you have nieghbors like me, all my wood is from my nieghbors and friends for free. when you live out in the country and your closest nieghbor is a mile away you have to be able to rely on eachother for help. really the whole reason we live in the country is for peace and quiet and good nieghbors. consider yourself lucky!

SWEET!!!!!!!!!!

I have a buddy that is giving me wood too. I have a splitter, he needed a splitter for cutting firewood for sale. He uses my splitter, and I have only had to cut two truckloads all winter. I have just as much on the racks for next year, as I had before burning season. It works great for him and me both. Good friends and neighbors are a true blessing.

Consider yourself very blessed to have a friend and neighbor like that. You can't choose your family, and you can't choose your neighbors, sounds like you are ahead of the game. Already split, man!

It surely is good having good neighbors. After one experiences a bad neighbor, you learn to really cherish those good ones!

Congratulations. Save a cold one for me too.
