Going to hit 4 0 this year...

32 but after this year i feel like i am about 80

73, I've been burning wood since I retired from the Navy in 1976. I have come to look at the work of cutting wood and operating a stove not as a chore but as a privilege.

I'm old enough to remember when postcards took a 1 cent stamp and TVs were a 30x30 box with an 8" screen. But I missed the signing of the Constitution by a few years.

I think the poll accurately reflects the wood burning populace - I get the sense it is younger rather than older.
55 here - but was just thinking today that I don't feel any different than I did 10 years ago. Sore as heck from some lifting and snowshoeing, but that would have happened 10 years ago too.

Of course, it helps that I don't go to work (off-site) any longer. If I did I might feel older when I got home at night!

Just turned 60 Friday, it was my always goal to retire at 55 but OEF/OIF got in the way...anyway my puppet masters turned me loose last month and life is good.

Craig, it only reflect the internet using, wood-burning populace that chooses to visit Hearth.com. I am convinced that the true demographic is a little older than the poll suggests. Just think of the people in your area who burn but do not frequent this site.

Oh, 36 here.

35 in a few days.

31 but still getting wooped in the motorcycle races by the occasional 50 sumthin guy, that makes me think that I'm not over the hill until 60.

I'm old enough to remember watching scooby-doo on a black and white TV and console TVs with tubes and rotary channel dials.

I'm 60+ going on 22!

The snow on the roof is certainly melting for me, but the fire in the hearth gets stronger all the time!

Turned 30 in December though between the beer gut and the lack of hair no one would know. I also was surprised at the age but I guess as previous stated it's the younger internet users who are also wood burners. With all I learned from here I can't imagine heating with wood without this site. From fears to stupidity I would probably either have a unused stove out of fear or no house due to stupidity.

Thank you all, and good poll!

39 - With three boys, 9, 3, and 1 1/2. Burnin wood provides me with that much needed out..... Gotta go tend the fire..... Gotta go bring in some wood..... Gotta go split some wood.... you get the picture. It's all good, I love em dearly. Can't wait till they can help!!!

Been burning since 1982 and don't plan on stopping anytime soon. I'm not as tough as I used to be, but I still go and that's the main thing. 53 on Tuesday. Lord willing, of course.
