What are your current prices for log loads?

$120 in Central Maine. Mixed hardwood, mostly ash.

I pay $110 per cord for oak.

a buddy of mine paid $90 a cord, mostly ash last month NE wisconsin

One cord up here is going for about $200 to 250.

I've seen one poster on Albany Craigslist, selling 8 cord log length for $800. Seen another, also on Craigslist, $200 for 2 cords, log length.

Have also seen people advertising 'seasoned' cords, c/s/d, for $200. Have seen a few 'green' cords advertised c/s/d for $175.

At the same time, I see Craigslist advertisements for 'seasoned' for as much as $250 and 'green' for $225.

That is a whole mess of wood. If I had sufficient space to store it and season it, I imagine that would probably heat my house for at least 3 winters.

How long does it take you to buck and split all that wood?

I got 2 cords of pine rounds being dropped off early next week for $25 gas money. I'll post some pics when I get it.

Advertised around here for $140-$160 for cut and split supposedly seasoned mostly oak/mixed hardwood.

It's curious looking at that photo. Around here, the trees are much taller and can't be stacked sideways. :lol:

I notice an awful lot of smaller diameter stuff. Not nit-pickin, just curious.
That smaller stuff would never make it out of the woods around here.
It's nice it's being utilized but I wonder about the efficiency of handling it.

They cut them to 8 foot lengths to fit regardless of how tall the trees. :roll: There is usually less air space in a crosswise load. Truckers don't like hauling lengthwise as the logs want to stay with the truck and go through the cab if they have an accident. No need to preserve the length if it's all getting chopped up anyway. Crosswise loads tend to fall off easier should they leave the road or crash.

We have harvest practices that try to mimic what a forest fire would do by clear cutting patches so basically everything standing goes. Forest fires aren't really selective so they don't selective cut that often.

I just bucked and split and almost have stacked 5 cord red oak and chestnut oak. It was log length to start out, and cost $350 US dollars, $70/cord.

I got a load for $850 this year. Same load last year was $700. About 8 cord on the truck, closer to 7 once processed. Avatar was last years load and this picture is this years.

In lower NY I was told $70/cord log length on my truck. I can only get about 2 cords on my truck. My buddy who runs a tree service will sell me split, somewhat seasoned cords at $150 delivered. It makes more $$$ sense for me to buy split at that price. I think I may buy some log length anyway, because I have been enjoying a couple hours of splitting on my days off. I think my boobs sag a little less after a couple weeks of splitting, and surprisingly, my body actually feels better too! I'm just having a hard time finding wood to split. The state has been doing a lot of roadside cutting lately, and the contractors take all the good stuff, so there isn't much to pick from in my usual spots.

Just found a guy selling rounds in varying lengths for 75 a cord. I got about 2 cords (a bit less than 2) delivered for $110 (all that he had at the time) and he perked up when I mentioned that I would have taken more if he had it. He said he was expecting more and I told him I would take 5 more cords if he had it. I bet I could get him down to $50 or $60 a cord since he wouldn't have to drive all over the place unloading it one cord at a time.

I saw a 7 cord load of somewhat muddy logs in a dump truck for 400$ on craigslist. The mud would be hard on chains but the dumptruck would be easy to maneuver onto my property for unloading. I don't think I could handle a full sized log truck unless he didn't mind blocking the road while unloading.

They weren't that saggy. Just not like they were when I was 20.
Those big loads seem like a deal, but I couldn't handle all that wood on my suburban 1/4 acre. A full load on my 1 ton flatbed is about all I can handle at once unless I want to sacrifice my lawn.

Been thinkig about it, I have the room to store it, but then I am looking at a new saw and a hydraulic splitter
Damn, I forgot, we don't have the cash ......still a dream though.
