Anyone else see a difference in there flame once they top off? as soon as I top off I can see the flame gets bigger :)

Could be the hopper gasket is compromised, too much air getting in unless the hopper is full. Not familiar with your stove, but it's easy to check if there's a build up under or around the gasket anywhere.

the only time I get a bigger fire is when I open my hopper....it let sends a rush to my burnpot that it can actually kick the coals out of the burnpot...but this is normal Im guessing because the stove will find the easiest way of getting air when running...Im not worried about a hopper fire because its drawing air down through my hopper not pushing it back up...and with bottom feed I'd say its almost improbable..

Opening the hopper on my Quad Castile insert does nothing for the flame, it remains the same when I open it up. You probably get more air into yours due to the design of your stove I would guess.

MIGHT BE SUCKING AIR THRU BIN WHILE OPEN

agreed. Open the hopper door and watch the flames grow from more air.

The fire gets bigger when the hopper is full/closed which would mean less air. Hopper is tight, have an OAK, and my house is older/leakier :) Its not a big deal, just something I noticed after I would fill her up, the fire would roar to life after. I was just wondering if anyone else noticed this.

Interesting. Maybe the auger is able to pull more pellets in with the added pressure of the pellets pushing them into the hopper opening. That is the only theory I have.

No change on my St. Croix when I open the hopper...

I notice a change in the sound as well, there is a definte "roar" when the hopper lid is open, sort of a resonating roar for lack of a better term

should the hopper be sealed? I have a top loading stove and I can see right into my hopper around the edges of the hopper door. There is defintely not a tight seal. My brother-in-law has the same stove and his is the same way. Are they supposed to be sealed?

Depends on the stove. Some are designed to be airtight, others may not be. I am not familiar with your Kozy.
