scares me.....notarized contracts?! Ya gotta be kidding me! High ash too...some of these pellets dont qualify as premiums...what if they dont burn in your stoves? Youve got a signed contract for useless pellets?

A contract to buy pellets? No way would I sign.
I would love to see the provisions in that contract.

Here is the response i just got back from them, they are allegany pellets.

Hi JL, Our company's name is allegany pellets LLC, you can check us out on the web at www.AlleganyPellets.com if you like.

We have several pellet varieties we offer, the offer for $195 was a discount rate on a hardwood pellet. Please feel free to call me if you have any questions.. 1 800 816 8153

Thanks,

Paul Ceglia
Co-Owner of Allegany Pellets.

I just recieved a email from them.. They want $20/bag which includes shipping so I can try them. I would need at least 5 - 10 bags before I get a good feel. So that'sa $100-$200 dollars. I thnk i'm going to pass.

Looks like another pellet distributor with a name very close to a pellet manufacturer.

Allegany Pellets LLC vs. Allegheny Pellet Corporation

Looks like you're from around the same area as me, I'm about 30 mins south of Rochester and using the same stove. The cheapest I got pellets last summer was at TSC for $239 a ton 50% down end of july for a september 1 -Oct. 1 pick up.

I like the idea of not having to store the pellets through the humid summer months. $195 is a killer deal for pellets in our area. I have not had the problems that others have had burning pellets, the stove just burns them without complaining. It might be worth the trip for you out to there site to check the pellets out, maybe burn a bag.

I think they might be too far away from me to make it worth it, I don't know??

MANY references here, but heres one thread:

I live in Allegany, NY and I also saw this ad on craigslist.

I like to do business with a local hardware/lumber place rather than some one who is operating out of a garage.

I would hate to get 10 tons of these and find out they suck. If anyone wants to split 10 tons drop me a PM. I have a place you can store a few hundred tons until winter, located between Great Valley and Franklinville.

My father lives a few miles from them will see if I can get a few bags test.

I was just looking on ebay and came across a listing from this company. It looks much more professional than the listing on craigslist. I was looking at thier website and in the FAQ they say you can request a bag to try before ordering a ton. I am thinking about it, Whats the worst that can happen 1 bag doesn't work.

I'm not so sure about this company yet. I emailed their contact email and they offered to ship me a bag(same email someone posted above), I replied saying I would like to pick it up(no used paying for shipping when I have family minutes away). Have yet to hear a reply.

Some red flags:

1) Website is half done, ton of dead links
2) They have a private domain registration(hiding identity of who owns the domain name).
3) Lack of reply
4) The jazz about the contract and paying etc....

Will see if they do eventually reply.

just my thaught if this compamy is good then why did they put a add in the buffalo news? you would think they would get a better response with that. than an add on craigs list.

I have just done some research, derrickp had commented on thier web site. Thier site was started 2-28-09, so it is very new. It is registered though GODADDY. My wife is a computer wiz. hope this helps.

And the benefit of see a couple of tons outside of what looks like a two car garage is?????. What's the saying "if it's too good to be true......."
