My local stove shop is offering Hamer's Hot Ones for $289/ton and indicates he is practically making nothing on them to help the customer out. Last year, the same pellets were $189/ton in April. The price increases each month throughout the summer with the highest being $335/ton in September. It makes me wish I was more of a Pellet Pig last year. His letter this year indicates Hamer isn't offering an early buy program.

What is everybody else's experience so far with an early buy this year?

I think they are trying to put one over on you Turd. A guy I work with just said tonight the local store in Canada called him to try to hawk them at $250 / ton early buy. He is going to sit it out a while and see where it goes. Hamer isn't the only pellet out there ya know, shop around. I got all mine last August and the year before for $193 by shopping around. For $289 I would just burn oil unless it was over $3.00.

Perhaps Driz, but he is a straight shooter. I edited my original post as I was quoting the Sept. price from memory and the actual price in Sept. only increases to $335. It rises about $5 - $7 / month as the summer progresses. He indicated in the letter that Hamer is blaming the lack of new construction on sawdust shortage and they "think" they will be able to supply his shop with their orders.

My stove shop isn't doing pre-buy this year.... said the mill wouldn't commit.

They have NEWPs for $269 now.

I'm waiting a bit to see what happens.

Bummer if the Hamers Hot One's don't come down. My P68 loved them and in turn so did I. It would be nice to stick with what burned best, but I will not be held hostage. Hopefully I'll find some other good burning pellets, plenty to chose from out there, just don't want to buy five tons of garbage, though.

Prices aren't going to come down that much. with all the people that bought stoves last year, they won't drop the prices.
