Therapy

It seems as though firewood is not only an excellent heat source, but good therapy too. I have been laid off from work since Christmas time and don't seem to be having much luck finding a new job. Most of the honey do list is done. Ice fishing was a good time killer during the winter but it has been prettty boring lately. I was able to spend most of today splitting and stacking wood. Felt good to be active and productive. Atleast this free time will allow me to get a good jump on the wood supply for next winter. Only about 14 cord left to go!

The last 3 years I was a machine setup technician at a small silk screen printing company in Waterbury, Ct. We primarily did printing on plastic containers for the cosmetics industry. Our biggest customer was Risdon. Anyone local that follows the news will know that they stopped production totally in January after the bank cut off thier credit. Prior to working here, I spent 10 years at a VW dealership as a service advisor and then shop foreman. The automotive field is where I have most of my experience, but that industry is slow right now too so openings are few and far between.

Yes, currently we have atleast 14 more cords bucked and waiting to be split. My buddy and I cut and split together and provide the wood for both houses. He is actually my supervisor from work and still goes to the shop every day. So I will keep at the pile while I still have free time. We also add to it as often as possible, you can never have too much! Selling some has been a thought too.
