If anyone is interested in the early buying of pellets for next season in the central RI area let me know. We're trying out a brand of pellets now called Appling County and if we like them we gonna get them shipped to us for $225/ton. They'll be dropped in West Warwick, and we'll have a forklift to load full pallets onto a truck.

I can't believe that no one has any interest in the area, and yes I know there are only three other people in the whole state :) I thought this was a pretty good deal for pellets right now seeing as most other early buy prices are over $250/ton in the North East. I was hoping my legwork would help other people out.

We've burned about a dozen bags of the Appling County Pellets in various stoves such as a Harman P61, Whitfield Optima, Whitfield Advantage, Englander PDVC and a Quadrafire Mt. Vernon. All of the stoves did very well with this brand, and the ash produced was little more than with the Barefoot's I've burned all season long.
 
If you made the pick-up point on the other side of the state I'd be interested. Not sure it would be cost effective to drive the Subaru Outback back and forth when I only need a ton or two.
BTW: I'm in Tiverton.
 
That would be alot of trips back and forth in a Subaru. You must know somebody with a truck to make it in one trip?

Sorry the drop point is so far away.

I'd want to try a bag before commiting to 4 tons. If you have extra bags, will pay to try. Private Message me, I'm on the W.Warwick line.
 
How is the heat output compared to the Barefoots? So far, the barefoots surpass every other pellet I've tried by far. I'm on the MA/CT/RI border.
 
burned a bag of the Applings. they burned hot and clean. size of pellets were consistant throughout the bag...no extra long pellets to bridge the chute. I found them to be very similiar to the Fireside Ultra's in size, appearance and btu. Hardly any "dust" in the bag I picked up. burned down pellets left a finer ash then the Ultras...glass stayed clean throughout the burn of the bag...just a very, very light grey residue, hardly noticable. I've put in my order, have no qualms about ordering tonnage for next season.

The heat output was very similar to the Barefoot Pellet. The only difference I could find was a little more ash.
 
We've burned them.....similar in my opinion to Energex softwoods out of Canada...smallish pellet length, which is good, but I think they burn dirtier than your average pellet. Good BTU's tho, little fines.
 
Thanks to all that have joined us in the coop. Last year we had only 1 truckload, and right now we're approaching our 4th.
 
We have 4 trailers coming with 22 tons each. The last trailer has 12 tons unaccounted for if you're interested .
 
We have 4 trucks coming on various Friday's next month to offload. You can certainly grab 4 tons if you'd like. I've sent both tomd699 and raymac a PM with additional info.
 
There are still 12 tons available if anyone is interested.
 
I know it's almost the end of April now - are there still any available?

I would be interested if so, but I'm not sure how to pick them up. Is it possible to rent a truck that could carry a few tons?
 
Sorry vetrik, but all of the pellets are already spoken for. Keep your eyes open next March for the next opportunity.

Nice job Rick, glad to hear a lot of folks won't be getting bent over the pellet bag this year thanks to your efforts! :coolsmile:
 
It makes sense to buy in bulk, we all save $$$ including myself which is most important to me :)
