Greetings everyone;
I live in western Alaska, using a Blaze King Princess for our first season, things are going great. I've checked inside our metalbestos chimney (approx. 15 feet straight up) a couple times out of paranoia, just a little fly ash but that's it.
I scored a used Jotul F3CB from a neighbor at the same time we bought our BK but didn't have the time or $ to install the Jotul. My plan is to install it in another part of our house in the spring, BUT the installation would necessitate running the chimney on the outside of the house, up maybe 35 feet due to that part of house being 2 stories (and second floor has a loft and high ceilings). My concerns are:
1.) due to long / high chimney, the draw on this stove is going to be way too strong, causing me to constantly "damper down" and run on low setting. And if I don't damper down, this stove is going to be always ripping hot.
2.) due to cold environment and a long outside chimney run, if I run this stove on a low setting, I will be asking for creosote buildup / trouble.
Any thoughts or suggestions? I thought about purposefully adding some bends / elbows to reduce the draw. Or maybe an actual damper just above the stove? Or is there such a thing as triple - wall chimney? I'd really like to make this work but I'm just not sure....
