Barefoot or NEWP which is better at the same price per ton.

i am on my 2nd ton of barefoots and love them. always buy a few bags before commiting to an entire ton.

First year with pellet stove. (harman p68.) have burned two brands this year, Barefoot and NEWP. Both very good, but like
the Barefoot better. Little no ash in bag, no clinkers, seems warmer. I am going with 4 tons of barefoot for next year.

Hands down the Barefoot are the better pellet

I burned 6 bags of Barefoot in Jan. - all I could find. They were, clean, minimal ash and clinkers and the heat output was great.
However " and I have seen this mentioned on the forum) they are much smaller in size. I felt as if I was getting great heat but burning more in volume.
Now I have read that you should go down to the next lower burn level but I did not have a chance to really try.

So my question is - If I bun a Ton of pelletts do I need 1 1/2 tons of Barefoot or will setting the level down use the same.

No Clinkers, very minimal fines in the bag, less ash than other brands I have burned. I find they burn similar to Lignetics if you have any experience with them. And yes, they are smaller than most brands. Smaller in diameter as well as shorter in length. I had to reduce the pellet feed rate, or it ran hotter than needed, resulting in faster consumption. A ton of pellets is a ton of pellets. you are buying weight, not volume. Adjust the feed rate accordingly.

I see you're in Brewster, NY which could be as short as 35 miles from me depending on where you are.
Where did you get the Barefoot and how much was delivery? Do they have a website or something?

thanks, they're about 45 miles from my house....not that bad really.
Will give them a call tomorrow if they're open and check it out.

..and yeah, please post back after burning a bag or not to make sure their batch is good..

I would take the Barefoot over the Newps! Much better pellet and awesome heat output. You will be able to drop at least one heat setting and still get the same amount of heat out of the stove. They also seem to stay consistent from year to year. I think they have there process down pat, Where others are more inconsistent with the difference in raw material's.

I called this place but they won't deliver this far in my town (about 45 miles). They have a good flat delivery rate of $75 up to six tons.

That's what I was expecting to hear,

I called the place but they won't come 45 miles to my house. Doing the math I think it would be very tough for me to rent a truck (maybe a big van in home depot) for the day and haul 3 tons in 2 trips, imagine getting off all pellet bags on the first trip and maybe stock them temporarily in the driveway so I can rush back 45 miles and get the other half....meanwhile the clock is ticking and I'd need to return the van that same day.

Renting a full day in HD is around $70 plus taxes.

So 3 tons at $259=$777 + rental($80) + gas($20) ~= $880 total.....ton would be around $295 delivered with all my sweat....

Versus:

Lignetics at $280/ton plus $100 delivery by them = $940.....ton would be around $313

What you guys think ??
