Anyone know the best price for pellets in the RI area?Just need some to get me through the end of the season. Thanks!! ;-P

If you're close to the MA border, Pellets Direct is right over the line. Check their website for current pricing.

Pellets direct early buy prices are really high. The cheapest price is a brand called ACP or Appling County Pellets, which has received terrible reviews, and that brand is going for $254.00

Stuff like Lignetics and Barefoot are going for $279-$289 a ton with the early buy.

But they are located in Uxbridge, MA, which is a stones throw from the RI line.

Last Summer I was always $20-$25 cheaper than the East coast with $185 a ton in May and June of 2008.

Right now my Summer Buy is $245 a ton pre paid by April 15 with pellet p/u in May. During May it is $250 a ton, cash and carry. I have not heard what pricing will be come July but I bet it will be at least $20 a ton more.

Just my $.02.

With all the pellet makes saying that there is no saw dust to make pellets, thats why the price is high.

How come I read post after post of NEW PELLET FACTORIES opening ? Where are they going to get

saw dust , if the established manufactures can't ?

You are correct, Sir!

Might wanna do a forum search on the Appling. Mixed reviews. People
mentioning an abundance of ash, and the pellets smelling like arse.

My guess is many of these factories were drafted when things were booming in the pellet market last summer/fall, a lot has obviously changed between then and now.

Many of these new pellet plants plan on using whole trees and not sawdust. The new plant opening in VT's N.E. Kindom is also going this route. I believe this is the future for the pellet industry. It remains to be seen if this is a viable option for both pellet quality and price.
