I have a 6.5 hp Swisher splitter only a year old but has split about 40 cords. My only complaint is if the hydraulic fluid cap gets hit with a good size piece of wood it breaks right off. I broke the first one a week ago ordered a replacement put it on tonight and in less than 30 minutes preformed the same dumb ass maneuver :ahhh: . If I could have kicked myself I would have used my steel toe boot and done it twice. Anyhow if anyone knows of a METAL replacement cap that would fit this splitter it would be much appreciated.

Can you build a guard for the fragile business instead?

I can and will next go around, just figured if there is a better part I would get that instead of another piece of plastic. Either way I need to replace it again because now the only way to get it off is with a pair of pliers, and dear old dad won't like that.

Is it NPT threaded, or the kind with spring clips that slides down inside a stub of straightmetal pipe? Those are common.
LHA, ZINGA, and few other names come to mind, but try a local hydraulic supply house if you have one near. or Grainger maybe? NAPA for oil fill caps for cars?
or an oil fill cap from an older wisconsin engine, or early 50's car engines, or mid 50's to mid 60's ford v8 engines. I know my 58 292 v8 had soemthing like that. sorry can't be more specific enough to order from napa.
