Quad Castile Installed and it worked great! . . . for about 30 minutes

Hello all,

Finally, after 5 months of waiting for the stove and hearth pad, we had the Quadra-fire Castile installled today. Beautiful stove, relatively easy to clean - we're excited.

Got it fired up just fine when the installer (who did an outstanding job) was here. Within a half hour, pellets stoped feeding and the stove ramped down. The thermostat is set to 85-90 degrees, and we've tried the obvious tricks - reset button; turning the thermostat all the way to 50, waiting, and then back to 90. Each time, the stove fires up great and pellets feed - for about 30 minutes - before stopping. The auger doesn't appear jammed or blocked.

The stove shop we bought it from is sending some repair folks out later this week - which of course means taking another day off. I'm hoping it's an easy fix. Anyone have similar issues?

I'm sure some on this forum can empathize!
 
When it stops, if you hit the reset button will it feed more pellets? If yes, the thermocouple might not be in there properly, touching the end of the cover. If no, either the vac switch is bad or loosing suction, or the #2 snap disc is tripping which is an overheat sensor.
 
The stove will feed pellet and quickly light up again when I hit the re-set switch. My initial thought was that it could be the thermocouple, but since I'm new to the stove I didn't want to try messing with it - certainly not re-seating the thermocouple or anything.

Since it was just installed I would let them come and make good on it....you pay good money for the stoves so dont give them any reason to not fix it by messing with it. I LOVE my Quad Castile. :)

Re-seating the couple is very easy! Just make sure the ceramic cover is made up all the way meaning lightly push the cover toward the firebox wall until you feel resistance. The couple itself just floats inside the cover, the cover is lightly clamped to the firepot and can move easily. If the couple is not touching the inside end on the cover it can cause problems like you've experienced.
 
Actually just push the thermocouple into the ceramic housing, it has a tendency to back it self out. Easy to do and won't hurt anything.

The service folks are coming out tomorrow - we figured it was wisest not to mess with anything and give Quad a chance to void the warranty.
