When is the best time of the year to stock up on Pellets. This season was my first, would like to get the mcheaper than 300 per ton if possible this year, or else ill be using oil if oil stays low that is

Sams club in Bangor has them for $250 a ton right now I believe...Penningtons though. I bought a few bags to try the other day and was not happy with them. Other than that...I'm on the look out for cheaper pellets as well.

Chris04626....where in Maine are you. That would reaaly help. If you live in Fort Kent, you wouldn't want to know about resourses in Kittery. Help us help you. Thanks

Deer Pond Fuel in North Waterboro has Corinth hardwood for $280 / ton with $20 / ton delivery. At those prices I will burn oil (but not theirs)! I bought my pellet boiler to be green, but not at the expense of MY green.

To any and all pellet dealers out there, I will ONLY buy pellets for $250/ton delivered! If oil goes back to $4-5 per gallon I "may" rethink that, but I doubt it will go up that high again next heating season.

Why not burn corn? After all that is what the Traeger was designed to do from the beginning.

I am going to look at corn prices as soon as I have a place to store it, I should be able to burn bedding pellets also, as well as those badly rated pellets. I saw bedding pellets for what looked like a good price last year but then noticed they were in 30# bags not 40#.
I plan on buying some of each good pellets, ok pellets, corn and mixing together for this winter.

brocks building materials & floor coverings in rochester nh has maine wood pellets gen # 2 and big heat wood pellets in stock, price per ton is $275 a ton plus $10 per load to deliver,if you order 5 ton its $10 to deliver the 5 ton or if you order 1 ton its $10 to deliver. they have 3 boom trucks and 2 forklift trucks to deliver the pellets. they have 62 tons in stock all fresh this week, there phone # is 1-800-660-4065 ask for roger and i will personally deliver the order myself!

Expect a phone call, I would be glad to also give some business to Brock's instead of HD for a change. (for those who don't know they are in the same parking lot, HD offered to buy brock's out, but the owner refused and has managed to keep almost all of the local contractors, from what I saw delivering to brock's for UPS, and shopping at HD)

D&J;in Sanford Maine at the intersection of New Dam Rd. and Rt 4 has Maine wood pellets for $235/ton.

I like them because its no fuss no muss I'm usually out of there in 3 to 4 min.

I just called D&J;to schedule our stove cleaning & to order pellets. We had 4 tons of pellets to start the year off & right now have just under 1.5 tons left (still burning). So ordering 3 more tons. They have NEWP at $275/ton, plus delivery (we don't have a way to get it ourselves) and the Maine Woods pellets are $235. I was told that the ME pellets have a higher ash content & the most people that like NEWP don't like those. We burned NEWP & Northern this year (and after all we've burned this year - I have one very small metal trash can full of ash - just filled with the last pan emptying).

No idea where oil prices are going and we like the heat our stove provides (even though we didn't save as much oil this year as we'd have liked - less than 1 gal/day - must be that we heat the basement to 65 and hot water - oil heat wasn't used on 1st floor of our ranch), so we will continue burning pellets. We paid about $250/ton last year for the NEWP pellets. Delivery is $90 for 3 tons, pricey but we can't do it ourselves.

I have 5-6 tons on the way from D&J;in sanford, for 5 tons delivery is $100, for 6 tons $105, depends on what the truck driver says he can take. I was gonna buy from brocks but $235 plus 20 for delivery beats 275 plus 2.50 for delivery. Now I get to find out how maine woods pellets burn in a maxim. (no glass to clean=big plus)
I called blue seal in rochester, NH, they don't have pellets right now, will be getting some soon, didn't know the price (last years price as these are from a load they didn't get due to a plant fire in canada last year) wanted $20 for delivery (not sure about sales tax) thier corn was $330/ton so no deal there. (OR 9.69/BAG! OUCH! unless it is a 60lb bag) Even though they are on a rail road track they don't get delivery that way could be the problem.

Just heard something on the radio about someone selling pellets for $190 a ton in Penobscot/Aroostook county. I think it might have been something like Lawn Care Service or something like that. Never heard of them...besides $190 a ton when everyone else is $240 and higher...something doesn't seem right...

Out of curiousity has anyone seen pellets at any of the Mardens stores lately? I've been trying to keep track of all the HD's, Lowes and the smaller local stores prices. I heard about people getting pellets from Mardens earlier in the fall but I never actually saw any at any of their stores...of course I only went into the store in Lewiston 1 time and didn't look around really.

I would recommend calling southern maine renewable fuels out of wells they have been great to deal with. i am just not to sure what there prices are lately

I just got my pellets today for 295 a ton....its my first year with my stove (hasn't been intalled yet) but I wanted to buy premium pellets the first year...hoping not to have any problems....I hope spending the extra as apposed to (240, 260 a ton) will be worth it!

I talked to my dealer today and he told me that he just got a shipment in from Strong and didnt really know how much there were gonna charge.. Seems where I already rented my U-Haul I just bought the the ones from British Columbia....I probably could of saved 180 or so.(from what people are saying on here) ..but from what people say on this site about those pellets its comforting to know that I made a good decision
