Hope so, I woke up to 3" of heavy wet snow this morning with a cold stiff NW wind. Stove is burning 24/7 once again for the next few days. I want to get started with my wood shed and new deck but the weather just doesn't want to cooperate.

Yeah I walked in the woods today enjoying 70 degree temps after having to burn to warm the house up this morning. Now they say we won't be over 40 for a few days and low 30's at night. Screw this, I was tired of burning around the middle of November.

Maybe it's time to install that pellet stove you have hidden away?

That is what I bought it for but the pellets cost too damn much. If I lived on five acres of pellets instead of trees then maybe...

The pellet stove can just sit there and wait for me to get too worn down to whack trees. Which these days feels like a week or two from now. This wood burning chit is getting old fast, like I am.

That's about when you were promoted to Moderator, no? ;)

That's our last arctic blast moving eastward. We were still burning until the day before yesterday. The good news is that it's followed by warm weather. We were in the 60's today. It felt great!

Snow yesterday till about noon...nothing stuck around as the ground is too warm now. That said, it was 29 degrees when I woke up on Sunday and I was down to my last armload of splits I was planning for the season. I spent about an hour or so outside yesterday afternoon and make a pile of about a quarter cord or so on the basement. If that doesn't get us through the end of the stove season then...I'll have to split up some more.

no snow around here, but was breezy with light rain....Started a fire yesterday around noon and was 83 in the house most of the day...nice heat!

Still spitting snow here but we only got a couple of inches. Further south up to 5-6." That's a far cry from what was forecast.

BeGreen, I hope you are right about that warmer air heading our way but even the 2 week forecast has us mostly in the 40's.

Rottenest, coolest,(not coldest) winter I can ever recall in these parts. So,many, many months below seasonal temps, and have never felt warm except when sitting right in front of the insert. Just a gawd awful winter for a west coaster.

Finally, finally, this is the third day in a row with temps in the low sixties. Actually had to shuck the jacket today while topping up the gardens.---Bout frigging time!!

Still burning here. The cat practically wedges himself under the stove when it burns down; I mean I'm not a cruel man. Won't be longer though.

Restarted my stove this afternoon with expections of freezing temps the next couple of nights. I'm hopeing it is the "last gasp" of winter.

I was pretty happy that I finished my 1st season and had a face cord left. Good guess on how much I'd burn.
Then the weather went to crap. 30-40 deg. and rain forecast through next Saturday. Back to burning 24/7. I might have just enough.

Spitting snow here. I restarted my stove also. No big deal I still enjoy it. Spring will be here soon enough.

After numerous delays by installers we waited 3.5 months through the Winter to get our fireplace finally installed. We have been burning wood whenever we can just to use it a bit before next Winter. We will now have a jump start on the firewood we have to bring home though, since we have not had to use much as we thought we would.
We were kind of glad to see the cold weather so go ahead blame me for the cold, but I did not want the snow to go along with it. We got about 8 inches of the heavy wet stuff. Our new stove works great too, I can't wait for real cold temps of NEXT Winter and our house will actually be warm instead of the moneysaving 62 degrees.

I consider winter when it is cold outside. It aint' quitting here it looks like. Low thirties tonight and forecasts are for colder the next two nights and cold cloudy days.

The 30 is cranking. And I am cranky about it. >:-(

I don't enjoy wood burning. I just don't like being cold.

Been in the high 80s all week. Yup , Took the boat out on Monday. Yup, Going water skiing all Easter long. Been to hot to fish or cut wood. Yup thats what it is.

havent had any snow on the ground for awhile but its been slow to warm up to nice spring like temps.Had the stove burning last night with temps down to near freezing and high temps mostly in the upper 40s to mid 50s.

Todd,
Me thinks you sent all your Wisconsin snow over to central NY. This is being typed at 6:57am on Wednesday and it is snowing like hades right now. And to think it was in the high 50's to low 60's most of last week. All of the outside white certainly does look good, though.

Even north of 60 who is way up in the Yukon Territory has been frollicking in the sweltering spring heat this past week. However, I have been in the absolutely gorgeous Yukon Territory a number of times and I do believe his comments are made with a little tongue-in-cheek pulling of our legs. There was/is a small German restaurant in Whitehorse where they cook the best weiner schnitzel (sp?) I have ever eaten.

And I do not yet have my new wood stove. Oh well!

Edit: I am also waiting for the weather to break so I can start on my new wood shed.

monday morning. Woke up to over 6 " of very heavy snow. Got 2 more by midday. Stayed home and knocked snow out of bottom 20 feet of pines in yard. Unfortunately, too late for a 30 foot spruce. I had to cut it. It was in the absolute worst place. It was either the house or the wood deck. Easy decision. Now Ive got bonfire wood from the tree and the deck.

Near flint.

Winter is still kicking in high altitude colorado, Arapahoe basin ski area should be open till late june this year!
