Uncle Jed's Pellets?

I knew I had seen talk about them before
so tried the advanced search and found this:

They are the best I have tried so far. triple screened, very low ash and btu rating up to 8600. I just ordered 4.8 tons for next season at $230 a ton. Work great in my Mt Vernon.

I tried three brands last year and liked uncle jeds the best and they smell awesome. $211 last year $219 this year 1.2 ton pallets.

I would forget pellets and burn Carpe.

Now that's funny!

I've burned about a ton and a half this year in our Harman P38. I'd rate them as hotter burning than Pro Pellets with maybe a bit less ash. My wife has noticed more dust in the house since we started using them though. I will likely use a mix of them and the ProPellets again next year.

ive burned several different brands and jeds the best.

The Jeds are very good... no fines and low ash. I used two skids last season and the same this year. I prefer the Eurekas that I bought late this season as they are a bit hotter and do leave quite a bit less ash BUT the Jed's are good. I'm ordering two skids of each for next season.

I have tried Uncle Jeds, Heartland and Eureka. My vote goes for Eureka............ They are much cleaner than Uncle Jeds and seem to burn hotter, of course they also cost more. I will be buying Eureka this year......

how much more $$ for eureka's

I don't have the early buy sheet anymore, but I think the Eureka were $279.00 per metric ton (60 bags). So they are about 50-60 dollars more per skid than Jeds.

$219 vs. $276 early buy... I can go 7 days without even opening my stove door with Eurekas... they are that clean.

I only clean my mt vernon weekly with jed's
maybe I could do monthly with eureka's ?

My St Croix will have enough ash after one week to cover the bottom of the door glass when burning Jed's. Eurekas won't make enough ash to cover the little side grates next to the firepot.... probably 30-40% less ash.

That's not a knock on Uncle jed's... they are very good but not as good as Eureka's. But the ash is tolerable and much less than some others I've used like Marth hardwoods.

yeah would like to try eurekas but i started this game to save money so i'm sticking with jeds
can't justify paying more when i'd prolly clean my stove the same amount anyway

That's fine.... I did the same.... to save $$$.

I'm gone on the road during the week and I like the Eurekas 'cuz my bride doesn't have to do any stove cleaning. She can do it but it's easier for her if she only fills the hopper.
