Peck, peck...........all day yesterday and all day today.

This red bird has been fighting his own reflection in my stainless stove pipe for two days.

He sits on the roof line and jumps up in the air and pecks the pipe several times while in flight and then sits and looks at himself........or I guess herself since there is a nest about twenty feet away.

It's almost dark and she is still trying to get that other red bird out of her territory............. %-P

Wanna borrow my outside cat. I catch her up on the roof every now and then.

BB that is funny...........My 2 cats have been watching but the second floor is a little too much for them I think.

I just wonder when this silly bird will give it up............

Sounds just like a male Cardinal...
Attacking (potential) territorial intruders...
Females are dark brown...
The males will hammer my storm doors until I remove the
glass & put the screens in...
Guess they're tellin me it's time...

Yes, the male cardinal isn't too smart and if there is anything where he can see his reflection, he thinks it is his enemy and he will peck at it over and over and over. Funny in a way but sad in another.

You could be blessed in having a whip-poor-will pecking at the chimney all night! Yes, I've heard of that happening; fortunately I've not experienced it.

Notice the date when this thread was started (May).

Yes, the silly bird is still pecking and worrying about his image on my stainless stove pipe.

He did take a few weeks off in the late summer but has been back for several months.

Every day, starting in the early morning..........and all day long until dark.

He pecks and flies up and down my pipe.

He deserves some type of award.......

paint your pipe black. problem solved.

Get one of those plastic owls or something else scary and strap it to your pipe up there.
