I was thinking of buying a pellet stove

IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO BURN SELF MADE PELLETS AND/OR CORN, CHECK OUT HARMAN STOVES... I BELIVE THEY ARE AVAILIABLE IN THE UK, AND CAN BURN LOW OR HIGH ASH PELLETS W/ A MIXTURE OF CORN.. THEY ALSO MAKE A DUAL FUEL PC45 THAT CAN BURN EITHER FUEL TYPE

Before you consider burning corn think about where you are going to store it as corn attracts rats and mice personally I would just burn wood pellets.
I am going into my third year burning pellets and burn 3 tons annually.Cost me on average $900 for the season I used to burn 900 gallons of oil at $2
$3 and $4 a gallon so at any of these prices I have had substantial savings.

You've probably researched the pellet stove market in the EU but you may find this link interesting. Austria is naturally a bit ahead of the other European countries because of wood availability, I think, and sells some industrial scale stoves over here. For residential stoves, I think you might find American stoves more suitable.

I agree with the suggestion about Harman stoves. I bought mine last year and am very satisfied. You may want to look through a number of the posts archived in this forum. And people who come here are, for the most part, well informed and helpful. I am still new, so I'll just make these comments.

1. A good stove is worth the money.
2. Precise financial calculations will depend on currency fluctuations and a currently depressed energy market. (But ours is only loosely correlated with yours.) You probably also have more tax incentives than we have, so that could mean a lot for your final costs.
3. It might be prudent for someone living in Western Europe to have wood pellets given the political disruptions of natural gas from the east recently.
4. Your market is likely more structured than ours for products like pellets and stove. I posted the link to some EU standards recently if you're interested.
5. Satisfaction depends on your local infrastructure. For example, are there several stove dealers and pellet suppliers within a reasonable distance?

looks like a nice stove! never touched an AGA pellet stove though so i really have no clue...

are american made stoves being marketed in the UK?

would a harman even have the approval for installation in UK? i know many european models are not approved in the us, ie no epa cert...

some european models are very well made
