In a time of infinite technological advance, the fact that there are sectors lagging is a shame. Google has their hand in all things internet but no matter how much I searched I couldn't find an online snake identification software. Perhaps I'll have to contact Bing.com about this one. I would appreciate it if you guys let me own the full rights to this concept because I clearly came up with it first. I digress.

This snake was spotted at a family members home in Los Angeles, California. He was reported wearing Louis Vuitton Loafers and had some authentic Mexican Tequila when the family walked in on him. He is about six to seven feet in length but without the online snake identification software we have no way of knowing any other information about him (or her). Specifically: what kind of snake is it and hypothetically, what would happen if it bit you?

 
i did a snake search a few weeks ago and didn't have to much trouble. i use yahoo. if i try anything from google i never get the right answer

looks like a gopher snake, there are a couple different ones based on geography, but the markings around the eyes are pretty common to them all.
 
It's a Gopher snake. (Pituophis melanoleucus) Possibly a Great Basin Gopher Snake.
 
Seems to match the photo at this site (Found by Googling for "Gopher Snake") - per the site it says the GS is non-venomous, though part of it's defense tactics against predators is to try and to the look and sound of a rattler...

Non-venomous snake bites are said to be relatively harmless - they don't have toxins, but do produce puncture wounds, so you need to do a thorough job of cleaning them out and watch for infection, but no special treatment beyond the relevant first aid is normally needed.

i dont care WHAT kind it is... if it was around my house, it would be a DEAD one, via shovel or shotgun regardless of size.

i am a big sissy when it comes to those things, and i would run as fast as my fat butt can go to get away from them.

a friend of ours was going to be a smartbutt and bring a garter snake into my house the other day and my wife asked if he had already made his funeral arraingments? she said you bring that thing in there and he is going to kill you!

theres no shame in snake hating, Indiana Jones hated snakes too and he's a tough guy, not as tough as Charles Bronson, or Clint Eastwood, but tough none the less. but........ can't we all just get along?
 
I have tons of black snakes round here, they are welcome as far as I am concerned. Natural mouse, rodent control.
We do have rattle snakes in these parts, I have yet to come across one though.
