It appears my neighbour has left town for a bit and unfortunately left the rear window of his car 1/3 open. He babies this car and its been raining for over a week. The car has power windows and I can't put them up without the key, so I put a white force-flex garbage bag over the gap to keep the water out. The back seat got pretty wet before I noticed the window being open, so I've been removing the plastic when there has been breaks in the rain hoping it will help dry things out. I'm not going to be around for a few days and it looks like things are going to clear up soon. The car is black and I had to overlap from the roof as I cannot open the door to wrap around just the window frame. Is there any risk of damage to the paint if it sits in the sun with the ( at times, damp ) plastic in place? I don't want to spoil his car trying to help out. Thanks!

throw a tarp over the whole car and weigh it down on the ground with rocks, firewood etc

I didn't use any tape, static and the water held the plastic in place. As for the suggestion, I am going to throw an old sheet over it and then tarp on top of that. Thanks guys!

A friend of the neighbour drove by and saw the tarp-covered car, contacted him and someone was dispatched to close the window. I appreciate the assistance everyone!
