I guess they don't know that real tree guys actually charge you to take away the wood... and cut it down?

You should email that you are happy to do it with the rising price of wood. Can I be there tomorrow at 10? The problem is my insurance requires the home owner to be present as witness in case anything does happen. So is 10 ok??? :cheese:

Email him with the link to the posts. Let them see just how outlandish they are. I like my idea of being there at 10am better though...

Split this last night out of some 20" rounds off my neighbors curb. When I asked him if I could have it, he said he would have offered but didn't want me to burn my house down.

This is too funny. You should ask him to speficially describe what it is about pine that makes it so super, ultra-dangerous for burning. Perhaps he can come up with some scientific data we have not yet discovered.

Ask him in thesis form to differentiate the meleculare structure in pine that makes it so combustive as to create a chimney fire and yet makes it not suitable for insert use. Its fun to feed the animals :cheese:
 
When I'm bored I repost people's CL "free firewood, you drop" postings with added offers, like: " also, free used motor oil, you remove from car. Must be ASE certified and use your own garage."

I've even seen this sort of stuff out here in the West. It boggles the mind. Usually they state that it's good for campfires only.

Little does everyone know, Dylithium Crystals are made from pine sap. Thats right, the nearly limitless power that can propell Capt Kirk and Picard at multiples of the speed of light, comes from pine. Therefore, it is especially dangerous to attempt to control such forces with your mere woodstoves. If your stove happens to demonstrate an uncanny electromagnetic field or you can sense "extra" gravity when near your stove it may already be too late. Many of the dangers associated with this phenomenon can be mitigated with propper seasoning and a descent brushing, but always consult your friendly neighborhood astro-physacist before undertaking such ventures on your own. :cheese:

What i think is even funnier is that you have Jotul, Morso, Scan and RAIS all being manufactured in countries where I would assume most of their wood is pine. So, do they think they make all these stoves and then not burn anything in them because they are going to explode?

It started because green pine will burn. And people would burn the stuff green which will make a chimney look like it is stuffed full of wool in no time flat. The folks to the west know that you have to season it just like hardwood but back this direction people thought it was ready because you could light it. Add to that it was being burned in old airtight stoves that got damped all the way down about as soon a they got to burning good and you had the recipe for a clogged chimney.

Not that I actually did that you see. I just heard about it. Yeah, that's it. I just heard about it.
