Ahhh...the sight of well seasoned wood

LOL... I just came in 20 minutes ago after checking out wood out too.

That is a good picture. The thumbnail doesn't do it justice. The enlarged version would make great computer screen wallpaper.

Nice picture! Sometimes I really do use pictures of firewood for wallpaper! :red:

Some nice cracks ya got there!! Im headed out back in a few to buck the logs dad conveniently dumped on my already bucked pile haha. And then of course to admire my finely seasoned stacks..

Probably we are all a bit cracked.

Well if we are comparing them to fine wines, Cabernet's etc... I guess all I got in stock is Baby Duck and corner store Chinese cooking wine. :down: :lol:

EDIT: Oh ya and I can still get drunk / oh I mean heat out of them to. Pine and spruce that is.

Is this oak? I hope so, I took a copy of the picture, this winter I am going to print it out and see if it burns any better then the poplar and spruce / pine that I have

I checked out my wood and didnt leave the house.

Yes it does, i have it up on the dual 24's right now!

I have had my wood up since April and it doesn't look anything like that! But I did cut split and stack a bunch of wicked heavy maple today for the 2010-11 winter!!
I am sore

Since I didn't see how long it was seasoned to get the checking, how long would you say?

yup, I ahve been dying to get up behind the house to check out my stacks..Its been three + weeks since i have been up there!

I look at my stack every morning when I go out with the dog. Mine is starting to look like that. Its mostly Locust and Cherry cut into rounds in August '08, split and stacked April through July '09. The bark fell off most of it when I split it.

Strange saying this to a man but nice wood! dosnt get any better than that!

We spent the last day of our vacation moving 2 cord of wood that's been seasoning under cover "out back" to the storage area under the filon roof next to our home. It took 3-4 hrs. and it was a nice way to spend the morning. Have to agree that there's not much better than looking at nicely stacked firewood read to burn!

We evicted a mouse and her babies but that's why mice have so many litters in a year. And why we have kitties, too.

You all inspired me, my 8 cords sitting out there in the rain all summer long (this is Kansas, suppose to be 100 and hot and sunny all summer), so I went out with the meter, and the wood was all wet from rain the day before, so I split some to get better readings, in the high 20's. That is what I am burning this year - not going to have great wood this winter. If I only burn 4 cords then the rest will hopefully be better next year.

I thought, "in Kansas we don't need wood sheds, we have July and August," and that was probably true except for this year. But now in the planning stages for the 8 cord wood shed (16' X 8' X 8' tall) so I won't be in this situation again, and so next year I can start a thread that says - Ahh... the sight of well seasoned wood.
