Pellet PRices in Maine

After doing some calling around last week, I found that the ‘Agway’ on route 236 in Eliot Maine has in stock “Maine Woods” pellets (80%HW-20%SW) made with the new mixture for $255 a ton. They also have “Corinth” pellets (97%HW) for $280 a ton. They do not offer delivery. Saturday I hauled home 1 ton of the “Corinth” and they joined my 3 tons of “LG"s in the garage. I’ve never tried the Corinth pellets yet, so as the season gets going I’ll post my findings.
I might go back and get some bags of the “Maine Woods” pellets just to try them also...have to think about that.

Oh yeah...my wife can still get her car in the garage...and still open the car door most-of-the-way!

Classified BDN today, Maine Choice $245 a ton, free delivery.

Where exactly in the classifieds in the BDN is this ad? I've looked everywhere?

PA pellets have not gotten good reviews on this forum.....$280/ton is WAY high for them.

How do people feel about Maine Choice or the Corinth pellets? I'm ready to buy, but wanted to know what people thought. I burned Energex last year and they were ok, Sam's Club-Penninton Pellets were EXCELLENT in terms of heat and low ash. I just don't have a way to get them home this year. So I'm looking at MC or Corinth.

Thanks for your help and opinions!

I would guess that most stoves made in the last year or two will meet the criteria.

Just now saw your post. BDN dated 8-11-09 page D6, under heating oil.

Who is selling Maine choice for 245 a ton with free delivery in the bangor area? I dont get the bdn and its not on the web site.. Its a toss up for me between them and Corinth. I had three tons of Corinth softwood last year and loved them. I just hope the Corinth hardwood is as good..

Trying to avoid paving construction, I took a different route to work this morning. Drove by Frost & Flame in Gorham, they had Okanagan sitting outside w/ $260 sign on them.

That's funny! I called the number on the Craig's List ad, got Frost and Flame and they said they have never had Okanagan, but are selling Cedar Creek for $265. Told the lady about the CL ad and she said she would let somebody know. Then we have an actual sighting by Romy here!

I can get Maine Choice for $242 delivered, but probably would have spent a little extra for the Okies ~ AND grimaced at giving those Frost and Flame people any of my money (guy at Windham is a total jerk), now I don't have to worry about it, since they don't carry them anyway?!?????

Please let me clarify.......Cedar Creek is an independent rep that works directly with Cypress Pacific Marketing who distribute Okanagan pellets to dealers into the NE market. The lady at Frost and Flame has wrong information. So yes, Frost and Flame does actually have Okie's and Cedar Creek is the name of our reps company, but has nothing to do with the manufacturing of OKie's. There is NO such thing as a Creek Creek pellet.

Holly cow no wonder they cost that much. You just proved why some pellets cost as much as they do. In your statement there are four company's with there hand in the pie. Cedar Creek, Cypress Pacific Marketing, Okanagan & Frost and Flame. Dam! with each company using the general mark up of 40% to cover over head and profit. If we cut out the middle man we should only be paying about 50/ton. :lol:

Cutting out the middleman? This is a great opportunity for all. BTU will offer to personally deliver Okanagans to your garage at half price any weekend. He repackages them as BTU Bargain Beauties. Catch his infomercial on late night TV! :lol:

Yes the 40% was an exaggeration. There is still a lot of hands in the pot and yet again you pointed out another one. The biggest legalized mafia in the US the railroad. If you disagree you have never dealt with them!

The Energex you can get at HD (Windhm anyway) for $269/ton then -$50 for 2 tons, -$100 for 3 tons, -$150 for 4 tons, and -$200 for 5 tons. OR you could get a better pellet in Maine Choice at Lowes across the street (Windham) for the same price since they will match HD's price. (ordered 5 tons at Lowes Saturday, being delivered Weds this week)
