Down, bucked and split. A lot of work for a small pile of pine. Took 2/3 of the day given how it was hung up and the hoops I had to jump through to get it all down. I'll make sure to appreciate the effort next year when I burn it. The more trouble a tree or set of logs gives me, the more I savor it when I load the seasoned splits into the fire. That nasty, stringy Sycamore from 2 years ago will be cremated this Fall. I like having some softwood to get my first fire of the day going.

OK, I know it is down already, but I saw this on one of the logger shows. Notch the tree it is leaning against, then cut a third tree to fall and hit your leaner and take it down along with the tree you notched. 3 trees in one shot, it was pretty cool.

I just can't get the picture of the flying craftsman out of my mind.

nice job good looking woods, and I am sure that you wll get more leaner's. The job will go quickier each time you do it.

Good to hear you got down OK...all those leaners are fickle and you can't take anything for granted. Sometimes you can spent more time thinking it through than processing it.

+1 on being safe! I always try to winch 'em down with a comealong....leaners can be widowmakers.

glad this s.o.b. is split up and ready for burnin'!
