How much wood stored on your suburban lot?

Working my way to 10 on 1/2.

So 20:1.

About 5 cords on 0.80 acres. I'm making a firewood "fence" along one of my longer property lines away from neighbors.

23 cords 1.96 acres

1 cord on 1 acre. Yikes, I don't hold a candle to you guys.
When is the best time of year to scrounge up some wood? Obviously "any" time of year is the best answer, but short of wood falling into my lap, what are some other methods you guys use?
I figured craigslist is a good source, but I'm open to any and all ideas.

best time spring fall and after any storm. people get to know your work and refer you its a big cycle once you get going for it never stops!

I have 12 cords+ on 5/8 acre, I passed on a real nice maple today being cut down that was only a mile from my house, They had to have at least a cord and a have there!! The woman told me we already look like hillbillies and we have more than enough..(deep down I know she's right!)

hillbillies heck 23 cords 3 piles my lawn doesnt have a weed in it all up keep all the time. if thats a hillbilly than I wear it proud

17 cord on 18 acres. I guess I don't qualify as urban or suburban.

4 cords, which is about a seasons worth with some left over depending on the weather, is all my husband will let me store. He thinks it is an eye sore.

I get one corner of the yard about 20ft. long and 10ft. wide with a kids wooden play 'structure' in the center. I think it looks rather nice myself.

Have 6ft. privacy fences so neighbors can't see it. They wouldn't appreciate it either even though my stacks and racks are really neat.

8 plus cords on 1 acre. Plus about 3 cords to split...

Ten plus cords on a third or an acre. Three in the woodshed for this year, 6 stacked, 1-2 cord loose rounds waiting to get split and stacked.

Twelve plus on a little over a third of an acre. It's a neighborhood landmark.

I have no idea how many acres my lot is but I have easy accommodation for 6 cord.

There is no bad time to score free firewood.

Approximately 6 cord on about 1/4 acre so far.

I have about ten cords split/stacked and a cord or two waiting to be split on three acres. I can't imagine having ten cords on a quarter acre lot like some of you!

12 cords on .77 acres and I'm running out of room, I think I'm done scrounging til next Spring? Yeah right, says the wife.

7.5 cords stacked on 144 ft² inside my woodshed works out to something like 2270 cords/acre. Of course, I have some lower density storage sites full of wood (maybe another 6 cords) elsewhere on my modest 2.5 acre property, as well. Oh, and another 10 cords over on my cousin's property a couple miles away. I live about a mile outside the city limit, so I guess I'm suburban. Rick

But that's great though. There really is something to be said about planning ahead. I've gotten my fair share of ballbusting from my perceived "obsession" with wood burning, but truth be told, this is the way it was done for years, and its just something that I can't shake. I love it.
Besides, this sort of thing isn't selfish... burning wood to heat your home is a way of taking care of your home and your family... we're providing for our loved ones... Sure its doing something we enjoy, but there is a shared benefit. I love it, this website has really taught me some ins and outs regarding woodburning and preparation, and i've really been inspired to expand what I've been doing...
.... But thats the point.

3.5 cords on a quarter acre - outside now, but most going inside the garage now that it is dry and ready to burn. Another 2 cords drying on my father-in-law's property (where it was cut).

At the moment, just shy of 12 cords on 0.25 acre (I had to go to the assessor's site to find my lot size<G>) on an urban lot. It is starting to take up a fair amount of space.
