Bought a Lineater today at Lowes

Any Thelin stove owners out there? I have little gnome and recently replaced a chip in board that Mr. Thelin sent me. I am wondering what other repair work I might expect in near future, stove is only 2 yrs old and is used daily and cleaned regularly. Any insight on this stove would be appreciated.

Baston, you must have a really long exhaust pipe......with the 12' that comes with the LintEater, you've got 24' total!

But it IS a neat little deal.....I love the adapter with the hole for the rod and the connection for the vacuum all in one......insert rod, add brush, attach to pipe, connect drill, turn on vacuum and run the brush up and down a few times from top to bottom.....DONE!

And add the bonus of being able to clean the lint build-up in your dryer vents too. That's something most people NEVER do, and is a source of a lot of lint fires.

Hey Stillersnut, if you want more feedback, you should start a NEW thread for your questions....it's not going to be seen here much by fellow Thelin owners. You kinda hijacked Baston's thread...... 8-/

i have one too, (might have even made the post) love it. make sure though when you use it hooked to your drill, DONT reverse the drill the rods can unscrew which can be a pain if they are deep into a long pipe.

We bought this same cleaner and used it a couple of weeks ago! Works great! Well worth the price! Just don't put your drill in reverse or you'll lose it! :ahhh:

Yep, Mike is once again "'da man!"....he is the one who originally posted about this item, and that's where I saw it...thanks again for a great find Mike!

BTW, as for "don't reverse the drill", that's absolutely correct, or you might end up with the last section stuck way up in your exhaust. The directions do mention that wrapping the screw-together joints with duct tape......might save you just incase you forget and reverse the drill.

Perhaps, someone here can clarify for me. If I want to do the vent cleaning myself, does this still need to be doen from the roop or can it be done from the clean out "T"? If I can do this without going up a ladder it wouldn't be too bad?

The way I see it is, if I have this correct, is open T, block off stove side of vent with rag, attach unit and vaccuum adapter and run it up and down pipe, assuming I don't pop off the vent pipe cover. Or, am I just better off, attaching vaccuum to cleanout T, go up and run this down from the top (cleaner that way). And to sound really naive, how is the vent cap attached? Is it just screwed in with a few screws, or clipped in?

Never done this before, but, the stove cleaning was easy, and I hate paying for someone to comeout for a simple job.

JRB, I wasn't sure what you meant....do you mean using the LintEater we discussed above, or with a reuglar stove pipe brush? The LintEater works from the T, so if it's inside the house like mine, you can even clean the pipe in the winter w/o going out in the cold & snow.

BTW, I just did the final "LintEater" clean of my stovepipe before the new Englander multi-fuel arrives tomorrow, and I am still amazed at how easy it is to use, and what a great job it does! From the time I took the T-cap off, until I put it back on, it took all of 8-9 minutes, and the pipe looks almost new inside.

Yes Macman I meant the LintEater. I hat to climb on ladders. So with your statement, BTW my T is outside, I will get it and run it up the pipe, no going on the roof and clean it myself. Save money. 8-9 minutes, sounds great and easy!

BTW-I have both a Regular ShopVac and Love-Less Ash Vacuum, which do think is better to use? Love-Less is easier to move out there but small hose adapter and Shop Vac is more powerful. Just wondering.

Thanks for all the great advice last year also. Helped get me thru my first year with the Pellet Stove easier.

IMO, if it isn't too much of a pain to get the shop vac out there, that's what I would (and did) use.

And don't forget, DO NOT reverse the drill...keep it going clockwise or you risk unscrewing the flex rods or brush up inside the pipe.

And as for the advice last year, don't mention it....glad to help!
