Nope, maybe Monday, looks like the highs in the 50's but after that the temps are rising enough for no need for fire. Maybe El Nino will make it a mild winter this year. After the last two I could use a break.

Nice pics North, you guys up North are a hardy bunch.

7 am one quick fire up to 74 in the house all cozy!

Nope. And it doesn't look like one will be needed for the next 10 days, at least.

I am but only to get a good hot fire prior to cleaning the chimney. Nothing too serious until late October...

Not burning today, but I did burn a couple days as we had a cold snap, frost on the windows of the truck. But since then things have warmed back up, a reminder to harvest my wood..............

No not yet, with the Outdoor pellet boiler you will burn about as many pellets idling on a warm day as heating on a cold day, and it isn't as easy to start up and shut down as a OWB, it is supposed to be automatic but the automatic start usually doesn't get the fire going.

I thought about it hard this morning, 47 out when I got home at 4:30 AM but I was too tired so just flicked on the furnace till I got up at 10 am. I am itching to fire it up more then just the once two weeks ago, at the same time I don't want to get burned out before the season even starts!

Lit a small one tonight to break in the rebuilt Vigilant....sorta scratched the itch....

Not for a while... the 10 day forcase show a low of 63 for only a couple days, then back up to the mid 70's I'm hoping this year I will burn less wood since I have more Oak and Madrone than pine and fir...

mine is when it's 60 in the house

Had a quick one yesterday before taking the boys to soccer....was 35 when I got up, and the house was 74 within an hour or so....just some quick ones in the morning until November 1st or so

I'm jealous-my neighbor started burning two days ago and I'm still waiting for my thimble and double wall stove pipe to come in at Lowes! So far my wife and I have resisted the urge to turn on the heat. Its gotten as low as 60 inside the house but I'm determined not to use a drop of oil until I finish my Englander add-on install. Once that's in place the oil heat will be used for backup.

Not yet. Sitting here with windows open still 70 degrees in house. Next week different story weather man says we might get frost.

Yesterday, yes, today, no. Was going to try a different lighting technique

Not yet, but we'll begin having occasional small evening fires in the next few weeks. Fall is historically temperate for us because we're near the ocean (which is pretty warm right now). Spring, on the other hand, tends to be chilly because the briney is still cold. And subsequently we'll burn later in the season than many of you living more inland would.

I'm feeling really good about how organized we are this year. We have plenty of seasoned firewood neatly stacked in convenient proximity to the stoves and newly split wood is neatly stacked in areas that take good advantage of sunshine and available breezes. I've been leading the parade in that respect and even the husband remarked the other day that the place is "lookin' pretty self-sufficient". Made me feel good.

What's the threshold? Indoor/outdoor temps?
When it's 50s outside, or forecast 50s low for the night, I'll start a small fire. 60s if it's quite windy. We like the house above 70.

I've had a small fire the last few nights. Cold front coming tonight, so will probably have a fire day and night for the next few.

You better believe it. Came home from camping an the house was freezing cold, well 60 degrees, but to me thats just obscene with perfect wood just waiting to be burned. Nice and toasty now about 80.

Started a fire yesterday morning. Just kept it small then added a little bit 2 times; the last time around 8:00 pm. Felt good until I got up in the middle of the night and it felt more like a sauna in here (and I only put 2 small pieces in at 8:00). Stove is still pretty warm now as is the house.

Like others, we are expecting much cooler again starting tomorrow but high winds to go with it. I'm really not a fan of wind....

North, nice picture.

94 yesterday, 92 today. Lows still in the 60s. I won't fire it up until. Nov. 1st (it just happens to work out that way). I guess our weather out here is cyclical but precise.

its 47 f out and im burning the blaze king in the back yard, buring sticks and some little logs to give that new finish a work over before i haul it into the house, so maybe it wont stink as bad with the pre burned new finish i sprayed on it.
