First burn.

I did my break in burns last week. This was the first time I loaded it half way if that. I have some pics.
My photo's are not too good. I think this is the secondary burn going. I cut the air back like
I read in another post. When got the idea to take a picture the burn up top was not as good
as at first.

Almost forgot. This is my new Hearthstone Shelburne. I could only get the stove up
to 425 f. 5 in splits , Ash. 13 ft chimney. 48 F outside. Was wondering when it finally
gets cold outside. If I would be able to get it hotter, because it might draft a little better????

Yep, the bigger difference between the inside and outside temp the better the draft. You will also be able to load it to the gills and let er rip!
 
Secondary burn looks good from the picture. Sure is a nice looking stove.

Could be low draft or not fully seasoned wood, or both. 13' sounds a bit shy for the flue, especially if it is exterior pipe and has some turns in it. Is it straight up or rear exit to and elbow or two? Is this 6" pipe?

Before changing anything, try at about 40 outside, if that makes a world of difference, I'm guessing you need to add a couple/few feet of pipe up top.
 
It is a rear exit on the stove. I have about 2 ft to the tee. Slanted upwards. And then 13 ft strait up through my fireplace.
With a new flex liner. I love this stove. Finally going to be warm in the winter. hehe
I have 4 real cords of 2 year old, split and stacked Oak. The last stack is 1 year old Ash. Working on some
popple now. This going too be much better than an open fireplace. Awesome. Thanks guys.
 
Knotdodger, you should be good to go. I'd also burn the ash first even if that oak is 2 years old. Oak likes to hold onto its moisture but ash doesn't have much to start with and dries fast. You are right, you are going to love that stove this winter.

Looks like you are only about 60 miles from us.
